  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Is it possible to right a DNR note and have it with you when you take SN in case you are found so they do not attempt to "help" you?

I have thought about this before but not really sure legally how it would work. I also considered something more direct like "I will dedicate my life to hunt down anyone who interferes with my obvious wishes before finishing the job" 😆

Yes, but depending on where you are found, authorities will not have to honor it unless the DNR meets all of the legal requirements. Some doctors will ignore it anyway.

I would probably write...

"Do NOT resuscitate me!

If you do, I WILL sue.

If you do, I WILL just continue suffering.

I am refusing any treatment that can and would be administered.

My body, my life, my choice!"

Still wouldn't work, eh? I just want a safety net in case I am found.

There are no hard and fast rules about how to write down your wishes.

Important points are:

- Write down clearly what you want, so that the doctor cannot hesitate.
- Always write down your surname and first names in full.
- At the end of the statement, write the date of the day you are writing it.
- Put your signature.

So I do not need to have a "DNR" in the medical database to achieve this? I can just simply leave a note with myself in case I am found?. I am US based.

Well, I guess I would have done all I can to have made it fool proof. This is something I will consider trying when my time has come.

They will ignore a note. It's not legally binding. You need to fill out a DNR form, have it signed by 2 witnesses, and have it notarized. Then you have to give a copy to your doctor and have it put in your file at the hospital you are treated at. The EMTS would also need to see a copy, or else they will be legally obligated to save you or risk being sued, so you need to have a copy with you.

Isn't this a mess? The wish to die and to be left alone requires all of the red tape and paper work. I never intended it to be this way. How barbaric and sick.

Agreed 100%

Technically just writing a note should do since refusing medical attention is one's right.

It really sucks.

In the state that I live in, this will not be honored if they suspect that your demise is due to suicide. If paramedics/EMT's show up they are obligated by their licensure to try and save your life. If it is believed that someone was in emotional duress and tried to take their own life they have to do this. It is the law. DNR only applies to a "sound minded" individual who has a legal Do Not Resuscitate document that has been signed, witnessed and verified.

If you're found and not in need of resuscitation then DNR wont do much. A living will should be in place also. Also, not sure of the legalities if they know it was ctb.

If it brings you comfort, then by all means, but unfortunately this isn't likely to have any effect at all (edit: based on the context you provided).

In Germany this is possible. Also possible to deny any breathing machines, feeding etc.

I have a written document next to my bed. Because sometimes I just hope that at night some organ fails.
