• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UKā€™s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

If you took drugs, even common ones like weed and alcohol, do you think they may have something to do with you current mental state? I'd like to hear your stories and experiences. Do you regret taking any drugs?

Great question.
Drugs can fall into two categories.

There are stimulants like speed and ecstacy etc.
And there are depressants, weed, alcohol, pain meds.

One stimulates your system while the other depresses your system. With regards to alcohol and weed, you may feel mellow or just chill but that's the effect due to the alcohol or weed depressing your system, i.e calming you.

Alcohol worsened my mental state, weed didn't do much outside of providing some temporary relief, and shrooms, while my first trip wasn't great, did end up having a very positive impact on my mental health. I now feel much better than I did before.

I've taken tons of drugs and feel like I lost many years to them. I wish I would never have taken them and gave myself enough space/time to grow up without them.

In my whole life I did weed, alcohol, MDMA, ketamine and a few psychodelics.
I actually don't know whether my depression is caused by them or it's just a coinidence, but I don't regret it. I enjoy psychodelics, they're my favourite, I plan to use them in the future.

I used to take a lot of different drugs in my 20s - mainly on parties. I consumed weed, amphetamines, MDMA, LSD, Shrooms, cocaine, and derivatives I never took opioids like heroin and such.

Looking back that was definitely the best time of my life and honestly I miss it.

Drugs didn't have any negative influence on my well being or my mental health.

Now I'm much older and I rarely take any drugs other than alcohol but I would never say no.

Kratom really brought my life back temporarily, got me to stop drinking, and got rid of my anxiety / severe fatigue but I noticed people started treating me way worse because for some reason it made my eyes super constrained and red so everyone acted like I was some crack head lol

One of my co workers even reported me thinking I was on some hard shit or something. So like usual other people ruin everything

I reckon your depression could be the cause, or perhaps you thought the drugs were helping.
It could be a mix of both, I've always wanted to try psychedelics. I think I heard someone say 'micro-dosing' can help with depression.

Weed screwed me over for sure. I don't know if it worsened my depression specifically, but I was way less paranoid before being addicted to weed, and less socially anxious.
I've never abused alcohol because it makes me nauseous very quickly, like, I get nauseous before I get to the concentration that would allow me to really have fun with it most of the time.
MDMA on the other hand... I think it kinda helped me, in a way. It showed me what life could be in a way; it awakened something for me, in a good way. I wouldn't necessarily advise it because like many other things it really depends on the setting, spiritual proclivity of the individual and many other factors, but I really liked it.

I believe that psychedelics can help with certain mental health problems and so but a lot more medical studies would be necessary. Whether stuff from the black market is really useful or the risks are too high is sth that everyone has to evaluate for themselves.

Yeah there's always the issue that stuff on the black market isn't necessarily the real thing, which is kinda sad.

I feel like it's more complicated than that. For example, alcohol, when taken in high doses, can actually lead to increases in aggressive behaviours and behavioural disinhibition. Thus, instead of calming you, it can do the opposite. Hence why you have so many cases of drunk people getting into fights, crying, yelling, and so on. This isn't to say that alcohol isn't a depressant, because it is, but that its effects are more complex than what you have describe. Also, weed can be a stimulant. It depends on the strain (sativa vs indica).

Alcohol used to boost my mood, focus, and sociability.

But there was a limit - if I drank excessively, eventually it might morph into depression.

It also depends on the type of alcohol: bourbon/whiskey would lighten my mood; vodka or beer might make me more prone to be depressed.

It makes me think of that movie, Another Round where a group of male friends theorized that microdosing alcohol might benefit them.

Drug use is the only thing that has ever provided lasting relief to whatever was going on in my life at the moment.

I'm glad I got off meth though.

That's coincidence. I was lurking on SaSu for a month now, but I wanted to ask some questions on the forum and also wanted to use the "search" function so I made an account. I'm asking truly out of curiosity and I'm not a journalist :ahhha:

I know it's more complex than what I described but I don't have time to go into such detail. Thankyou for providing more information brother

MDMA made me feel great at the time but super depressed the next day. I used to like weed, but now it gives me anxiety.

I would say yes, it made me better overall, but it's not that simple.

I've tried weed only a few times and I've found it doesn't serve me well, so I'm not into it. It made me less responsive and multiplied my bad mood. I don't need that. One day with my cousin and weed was great, though. Lots of good laughs to remember, so no regrets.

I rarely drink alkohol, because I don't feel the need, but I'm fine drinking it in social meetings even a lot of it. And obviously it can't be an answer to depression, so I don't drink it often.

Shrooms, now this is different. I won't discuss details here to make it short, but it helped me tremendously. Better mood, different more healthy perspective on things and on me. I'd say it helped me long term. The change was so meaningful, that it makes my answer "yes" to this topic. But it's not so simple and please do a lot of research if you want to try it.

I've tried different prescribed antidepressants, too, which I'd say weren't really helping.

It might seem weird, but generally I'm not into drugs. I never were. I won't touch 95% of them. I am interested in few selected psychedelics, though. To learn about them and maybe try them when or if I have a chance to do it safely.

Never done anything other than drink. Started drinking socially but started drinking harder as a result of my depression. Depression has been around since childhood so it pre-dates the drinking.

I thought, for a while, that it was making everything worse as I started crying a lot more, had mood swings, and my intrusive thoughts got way more intense. However, I have been sober for a few months now and none of that has gone away and my depression has definitely worsened. šŸ¤·
