So, EU is becoming the new China. The end of privacy and large-scale surveillance of individuals.

People need to know what's going on right now.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

France recently passed a law banning social media for kids under 15, but it faces EU rules (DSA). To make it work, everyone—including adults—will be affected, creating major security risks.

Why it affects everyone
  • ID for All: Platforms cannot guess who is under 15 without checking everyone.
  • Identity Proof: You will have to upload an ID card or passport to open or keep your account.
  • Massive Hacks: Collecting millions of IDs makes tech companies prime targets for cyberattacks.
  • Identity Theft: Data leaks are bound to happen, leading to widespread theft of personal ID documents.

Seems like eventually every country will be an oppressive hellhole. I hate to think of it happening, but it is. It's a sad world we live in.

This appears to have been at least temporarily halted in court.

Looks like the world is becoming a hellhole everywhere at once in regards to this.
I hate how so many of those politicians that were supposed to defend us gave in and are pursuing those ID verification things using that excuse that it's for the kids... kids only need parental supervision, not government mandated illusion of care that screws over adults and endangers us with huge privacy concerns (data leaks, data theft and all..)
Their strategy is pretty disgusting, and I wish we could stop that, but sadly EU works in such a way that if they WANT IT, they will use any mean possible to rig it; they already do in fact by using that different voting mode and abusing the fact that it's summer time..

The irony of mostly liberal governments turning to authoritarian measures, bcs they know that they're losing their grip on power and they don't want to let go

It's been a long time since I've read any of these sources, but this topic is further elucidated (from significantly differing perspectives) by John Locke, who is often credited as the "father of liberalism", Carl Schmitt, an anti-democratic authoritarian conservative, and Karl Loewenstein, who coined the term "militant democracy", which has been referenced explicitly in modern European politics and constitutional law.

Yeah i agree! I'm German and i despise the course of the EU and my current National Government. They gonna go full 1939 just in 1984 style. I hope we get the fuck nuked to dust or something before we end up full on slaves. We're already capitalism-cattle.
