Not dying from alcohol poisoning or liver failure, but from the detox withdrawals themselves. Lol, but seriously everyone is always warning and freaking out about the mortality risk of non-medical alcohol detox, as if dying from it is the worst part, lol. It's a welcomed part for me, so naturally it crossed my mind to get addicted and then suddenly withdrawing to induce delirium tremens and dying.

It's true that severe chronic alcoholics could possibly die during detox, DTs are but a symptom of detox. I've worked at detoxes & DTs are not a thing anyone would want.
Honestly it's one of the worst ways to CTB I think I've ever heard, no offense meant at all. 🌹💔

if you're not scared of intense convulsing, hallucinations that are so real you can't tell apart from whats real and whats not, heart feeling like it's gonna explode, confusion , severe shakes, intense vomiting and breathing, severe dehydration, sweats (soaking your entire sheets kind), seizures (sometimes multiple seizures in a row) and being so weak you can hardly get out of bed without drinking a whole bottle of alcohol then maybe. Just know its a very painful and slow death. One of my favorite authors (who wrote Leaving Las Vegas, a book about a guy who committed suicide with this method) tried to ctb this way but he couldn't take the hallucinations and the delirium he ended up shooting himself instead.

Is that why he shot himself? Because he was afraid of another episode of DT? I've been drinking and tried going through a few withdrawals, so I fear that next time I relapse I will be experiencing DT, so to avoid my next relapse I either have to resist cravings for life or kill myself with a better method. But last withdrawals I had fast heart rate and felt like having a stroke, but I was excited hoping and praying it would kill me. I get that DT is horrific but at least death from it occurs much faster than liver failure, right?

None offense taken 🙂 It was just a thought because I always see people freaking out saying "go to ER or you'll die!!!" when someone says they don't feel so good going cold turkey. They make it seem like dying from detox is so easy and almost guaranteed. Someone warning of death always gives me ideas, lol.

Yeah it was one of the reasons, His sister said he saw demons coming from the wall and ceiling + add that with the painful withdrawals. I've been drinking everyday for a few weeks straight (like 750ml of vodka a day) and suddenly stopped, and only experienced mild-moderate withdrawals (which were painful in there own right, but not really enough to kill you) You have to be a severe alcoholic to die by drinking (drinking every day, every hour for months, 6 months minimum at least, to years) it's a very expensive and slow way to die (both the time it takes to drink to experience DT and the DT killing you)(also dying by liver damage could take even longer) whatever withdrawals you had times that by 100. Also yeah if you don't want to drink anymore it's best to achieve sobriety and find ways to distract from the cravings (easier said than done I know..) and if you're experiencing withdrawals right now it's best to try and slowly taper off and drink plenty of electrolytes, take multivitamins, and eat some potassium.

Whoa, 750ml vodka a day in just a few weeks? Did you have built up a tolerance already before your drinking became daily? I've been fully sober for about 65 days now. I did cold turkey and experienced mostly tachycardia, insomnia and tremors. Hallucinations were mostly auditory like faint repetitive sirens or songs. Nothing scary. After 5 days I was totally fine. I tried opioid cold turkey also and gave up after 2 days each time. The anxiety and restlessness with opioid withdrawals is just too horrific even though I know it's not as deadly as alcohol withdrawals. I need to kill myself before I relapse. I just know I will relapse eventually because life sober is too unbearable but relapsing will also lead to more pain and misery.

Yeah, I started with weak rosé and wines for a few days then vodka (at first it took me two days to finish the bottle then after a few more days it became a bottle a day) Yeah same with the auditory hallucinations and I'd get closed eye visuals, and mistook my dreams for reality, saw things at the corner of my eyes, sleep apnea, terrible insomnia, etc. Congrats on being sober for 65 days btw that's no small feat (Yeah.. death by withdrawals is no cake walk and probably one of the most painful methods up there, no matter the substance) I get the life being sober is unbearable, I relate to that so much.
