What do you think about death by stopping food and water intake ? sure, it's not the most peaceful way to die but I find it a lot less frightening and stressful than hanging or other methods, i haven't found anyone talking about it here.

Personally it sounds really unbearable to try and succeed with, I really wish it's straightforward to leave this cruel existence in peace.

I would highly not recommend this method. I believe it's very difficult and painful.

The body starts eating itself, it would be excruciating to lay there and wait in agony. Even burning sounds like a more peaceful way to go because then at least you pass out from pain.

Have you ever watched documentaries about the Holocaust? i remember people that went to Nazi camps saying that being without food and water was the worst feeling they ever had, it was the only thing they could think about.

The reason fast methods are chosen like jumping, gun and poison is because our bodies have survival instinct, even when we want to die the body tricks us into trying to survive.

Yeah it's too difficult. I've know people who attempted to do that but had to be helped with assisted suicide as it just didn't work

don't you have more specific symptoms to talk about? cause the discomfort of being thirsty for three days seems pretty manageable and if someone is really determined, they might be able to handle it

Please search this up by looking up VSED in the search bar to get some more insight. I completely understand your reasoning, but it would take a long time and intervention is likely.

Not true I heard it will only take that long if you were like out in the desert, which you probably would not want to be, for some people it takes 7-10 days, imagine 10 days without drinking water.

Generally you want medical assistance in the form of drugs to make snapping food and water To make things more bearable. The most I have experience with is going without food and water for five days straight. Generally when you're in a area protected from the elements it takes about two weeks to finally die and you're not in much danger until about the first week. So I was just barely entering the danger area.

On day 4 and 5 I was basically not terribly thirsty or hungry my body had sort of given up. I will say that every 30 to 45 minutes I would totally crash and need to sleep for a few hours. When I woke up I would actually feel pretty decent and refreshed My mind was also incredibly clear. Things went on like that until I eventually Started to sit on some orange juice and I ended my food and water deprivation.

There's lots of posts here, just search 'VSED' which stands for voluntary stopping eating and drinking. VSED is typically used for people already in hospice or in the late stages of a terminal disease. This means it's usually done with adjunctive palliative care like painkillers. The late stages of VSED entail long stretches of sleep, like 16-18 hours. For a healthy person to drop out of society and become isolated and bedridden for days or weeks on end would draw attention.

Someone recently posted an attempt at VSED and lasted 6 1/2 weeks and this was done out in the elements of nature. They stumbled into a grocery store, collapsed and were resuscitated.

As far as hydration goes, in hospitals if a person isn't drinking they have a little sponge on a stick which they can dip in water and put in their mouth. This little amount doesn't hydrate the body significantly but greatly alleviates the discomfort of dry mouth which is said to get quite intense after days without fluids.

Unless you are already on the brink of death or in a desert with triple digit temperatures, VSED will take months rather than a few days.

Not even sure ghandi could pull off this method. He went 23 days without eating I think.. to stop the Civil War between India and what is now Pakistan.

"Hunger too fades in the vision of higher truth."

If you want to know what happens when you go hungry for too long, just watch the survival game show Alone. Most contestants are eliminated from not eating enough or attempting to get more food cuz theyre so tired. Then their organs start to shut down and they start screaming in agony.

No, no, no. Anything but that.
Humans are quite good at taking sudden and acute pain compared to enduring sustained torture. Painkillers, alcohol, adrenaline, these can all do something to numb our nerves for a short time, but only before their effects wear off.
Being mortals, desire for food and water is hard-coded mechanism of SI that our will don't hold much advantage against. To me, the only chance is to finish it quickly and irreversibly before giving it any chance to kick in.

It takes too much time and you need a strong will to go through with it. I guess in the end it's more stressful than most of the other methods

Unfortunately a lot of the methods that are mentally less stressful are actually more difficult to execute.
Someone else suggested slowly poisoning themselves over time, for example. I think most methods that require a long, drawn out period of dying will be hard.
Resisting the urge to eat or drink is just unreal.

I once tried this.

The problem is not just that it might be painful in the end, but also that it might take you even two weeks to achieve anything. Of course, it depends on whether it is summer or winter given the lack of water, but I once survived a week without food and water during winter time and absolutely nothing happened to me.

It also depends on whether you are young or old, ill or healthy. However, this would be an extremely difficult goal to achieve. You would need a lot of time, a great deal of patience, strong will, and the option of not being found when you faint after a certain time.
