Someone told me hanging death can last 7 minutes and one dies from suffocation if the carotid arteries are not compressed. Is that true? 7 minutes of suffering? How to avoid this?

I dont think, its 7 minutes if done right, it will be 15-20 seconds of discomfort or even less till you get unconscious, you can watch hanging videos on gore sites like watchpeopledie.tv for a better understanding.

When I tried, I got dizzy quite fast, it didn't hurt, I can't really say more as I had to back out, but I don't remember pain
