SCUBA Rebreathers.

Basic principle is the CO2 you breathe out gets scrubbed out of the breathing mix using sofnolime, re-enriched with O2 before being re circulated for breathing. It allows for prolonged diving with relatively small volumes of air/gas mix, while using a breathing mix that has the maximum possible O2 concentration and still avoid oxygen toxicity at depth.

Accidents happen with automated rebreathers when divers forget to switch the O2 feed on. The CO2 gets scrubbed out of the breathing gas mix, so you do not get the physiological response to increased CO2 in the breathing gas mix while depleting the O2, pass out due to lack of O2 and drown.

These devices are afaik difficult to acquire without proper certification in their use (quite advanced technical diving) and very expensive (€5000+). The manual ones where you enrich the breathing mix yourself are cheaper but still difficult to acquire without certification. Also filling SCUBA tanks with any breathing mix, especially the O2, is difficult without presenting SCUBA diving certification, unless you deal with a very dodgy scuba diving operation. It will cost them their licence if found out.

I forgot to mention that you'll probably have to create a security exception in your browser to view the R2D website because it's not configured correctly. That's the message I got when I first tried to access it.
