How far in advance do people tend to decide on their date to CTB?
Is it something people set to give them something to look forward to and prevent them from acting on impulse, or is it generally to decide when is most convenient?

For me it's pretty much the soonest I logistically can. I'm thinking late Nov-early Dec. But I do imagine that as I get closer to that time, having had this in mind will help solidify my conviction.

For me I would not pick a date. As knowing me the day I pick turns out to be a nice day so I won't do it. Best to have a shit month then go then.

I gave up on picking a date. Now because of a promise I made to someone, I have to wait until after the damn holidays. Now I have March or April in mind, but who knows, I may just act on impulse and do it tomorrow (I wish).

I made a promise. I did break it but I'm still here so guess I didn't break it

I don't have a date, that's not the way I would do things. My mood swings mean I'll never know when it will be, next week, next year, or whenever. It will be when desperation overwhelms me. I was almost at that point a couple of weeks ago, now I'm happy to delay for a bit.

I can relate to your feelings of restlessness. I find my mood swings are very intense right now because of it. So frustrating

This is exactly my problem. Trying to make it convenient for everyone else means I am just prolonging things for myself

I've picked a couple before and caved/been unsuccessful which mostly means I end up having friends check up on me around them even though it was years ago. Turned into "well if I can make it through (date) I'll be alright" for a while. (Not a bad thing but yknow, not my preferred choice.)

If I set things now it's mainly to give myself a deadline to have other things taken care of beforehand and prevent going impulsively with loose ends.

I picked a date that wasnt too close to anyones birthday or something and then this way i wont keep procrastinating and end up here another year

Sometimes when I'm just driving, I stare at the car next to me, or somewhere random; I think what if... if I really want to die, just do it, right now do it!
But then...I actually have to wait until my next birthday. Wish I didn't care to.
