The dark web and the deep web are entirely different things.

The dark web is what you access with Tor.

The deep web consists of things that you can't access from a search engine--your logged-in e-mail account, your logged-in bank account, generally any content that you need a log-in form to access. You can't Google your e-mail address to view your bank account balance, for example.

Not an expert but to get to .onion websites you'll have to find some link directories. First one to come to mind is the hidden wiki but it's been a while so I don't know if it's still running. Fair warning, a majority of the links are gonna be dead and the loading times suck but if you keep poking around you can find some interesting stuff on there. Not worth all the hype though to be honest.

If you know that, then why conflate them both in your title and your OP?

Yep, all the broken links, down websites, and half-hour-long page loading times was it for me. Depending what you're trying to get, clear web or the street will be easier.

If you're looking for markets just type dark.fail into the address bar of Tor and it brings up a list of markets and their status.

I don't understand why so many people think they should use a VPN when accessing the Tor network. In most cases all it does is add a third party that you most likely cannot trust and can easily compromise your privacy. There's actually a subreddit just for this question because people tend to ask it so frequently, here its only post: You're here because you wanted to use Tor with VPN. Read here.

Other than that I'd really recommend reading up on things and maybe browsing through r/onions to get a grasp at what the Tor project is and especially all the dangers to be wary of. Obviously the most important rule is to not just click any links. There are some indexes that are generally considered more "trustworthy" but they can be compromised as well. Always check and double check your links. Basically, do not trust anyone.

Also don't trust me, I've only dipped in my toes and never really used the deep/dark web so far.

Where do people get bitcoin in the UK?

Second this. Dark. Fail has been pretty reliable for years. The markets are always changing.
At least I'm assuming not much has changed since I last about a year ago now?
They would get popular then either get taken down or the site would exit scam with everyone's coin in 'escrow' (basically a prepayment)
I miss the early days of silk Road and 2011-2014 before things went very corrupt.

Since bit bargain went down and coinbase messing me around I've no idea where to get bitcoin since early 2020 which was incredibly disheartening as nobody will help me with It.

Only use dark.fail, other directories (including the hidden wiki) are very likely to contain scam websites.
