CTB vs Telling the truth

So I have 2 options:

1. CTB

2. Tell my parents that I am unable to take the AP and SAT tests this year, even though they paid for the exams and the news will be heartbreaking

What do I do?

I'll recommend honesty. I am sure you are quite young and even though the situation feels inescapable, there is an out, albeit an unpleasant one for the time being. I promise you it is not going to be as bad as you think it'll be. Just be honest with them, I am sure losing you will be infinitely more heartbreaking than losing some money and you not taking some insignificant tests in the long run.

Totally agree with Dot and 21st above.

It's going to be infinitely more heart-braking and painful for your parents to deal with your death [from any means, let alone CTB] than for you to put off or cancel academic testing.

As a parent I would want you to tell me the truth. It's what we had our kids do. If you are not ready to take those exams, let your parents know. Explain yourself to them. I'm sure they would rather deal with than than having to plan your funeral. Sending many hugs your way.

Honesty, please, over something this inconsequential honesty is always the way to go. These tests don't mean anything, even though your school and parents convinced you they do. My parents spent so much money for me to take these tests, for tutoring, and I actually did fairly well on them, and guess what? I dropped out of university and ended up in community college so these tests really didn't even matter. There are so many different paths with education, don't feel like going to a 4 year expensive ass college right out of high school is the only way, especially when you probably don't know what it is you want to study (which is normal at your age!)

Tell the truth. Honestly. If you CTB that will be even more heartbreaking for them than not taking the exams.

Things have to be prioritised and they will understand.
You will maybe have to tell them what you were considering too, but that will just make them reach out to you and show their love.

It is probably not their fault they do not know how much pressure you feel under, but when they find out what has been going through your mind they will understand.

Please talk to them. Option 2 is much better.
And as soon as you tell the truth the relief in your head will be wonderful and you can breath again and look forward to life

Tell the truth. That problem will sort itself out. Don't ctb over something like that. I'm sure you'll be fine in the end.

Why are you not able to take the tests this year? Are you not prepared, anxiety, etc.? It's ok to feel unprepared, if that's the case. I have horrible test anxiety and it's a constant feeling of being unprepared no matter how much I do prepare.

I would tell them you're unable to take the exams and also tell them that you were considering CTB. Life only gets harder, and I would want to find out if I can rely on and confide in my parents at this junction, if I were you.
