  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Lately, I've been thinking about doulas to go through the process.

I keep thinking about helping people go through their CTB.

In these thoughts I:
  • Do not force or persuade the person
  • I only offer emotional support and help them not be alone at the end
  • If they want to speak, I would be there
  • If they wanted me to call the police at some point, I would
  • Same thing if they wanted to back out

I guess I've been thinking about that, because at some point I would enjoy having the same treatment. It gives me reassurance.

So basically, you want to be like a nurse during the process and witness it? Like be there online on a video call or something ? The rest is amazing, you'll be there when someone wants to talk and stuff.

I don't know where you are from but I would be very concern about the legality of what you purpose. I've heard of people being charged if they help or facilitate the act.

My dad legally took his own life and we had a hospice nurse there. She mixed the slurry, yes that is what they called it, and gave it to me to give to my dad. I promised my dad he would not wake up and had enough morphine to kill an elephant in case there were issues. He was concerned about waking up and not being in condition to try again. I held him in my arms until he passed on. After I was positive he was gone, I had my stethoscope with me, I let the nurse in to confirm death and note the time. She then called the coroner and helped get my dad ready for pickup.

Everybody should have the same experience that my dad did if they choose to, not just the ones given 6 months or less to live. If I could do it legally I would have no problem providing this service.

For now, it's just an idea, but I did some research.
In Canada (where I am), it is legal to be present during the event as long as there is no ''aiding or abetting''. That's a big gray area. Giving moral support through it could enter in this, it really depends on the court.
Basically, I would be allowed to listen and be supportive of the person.
I wouldn't be allowed to encourage, suggest or persuade. I couldn't give the means, explain the method, set up the method, assist or administer and even calm or guide the person.

The last one is really crazy to me, it just feels heartless.

Thank you for the words
