I've been taking benzos less in case I have to ctb soon, but I have read so many mixed accounts of what benzo use can do for N.

If I had to take it I'd want to use it before I ctb so I'm less inconsolable.... Every time I've come close to my attempts recently I've been so upset that I can't even keep my empty stomach acid down. Like I'm just crying so much that I can't even fathom swallowing something. So I'd hope to be able to take a small dose of benzos as part of my CTB protocol so I'm not panicking, probably when I start metoclopramide.

Does anyone know if benzo use before N can affect its lethality? All I know about this is that benzos and barbs use some of the same receptors in the brain.

They have some, but not strong as benzos with other benzos for example. It's much more like how alcohol and benzos have a little cross tolerance build up.
So unless you have been on like 10mg xanax a day, for multiple months, it shouldn't be much of an issue.

They don't actually use the same receptors directly, i quickly ChatGPT'd this response:

"Benzodiazepines work by enhancing the activity of GABA, making GABA receptors more responsive to the neurotransmitter. In contrast, pentobarbital directly interacts with GABA receptors, making them more active without needing the presence of GABA itself. So, while both substances affect the GABA system, they do so through different mechanisms."

Short answer, no. They do act on the same receptors but different site of action and whereas benzodiazepines are positive allosteric modulators of GABA-A receptors (which means the neurotransmitter MUST be present and open the chloride channel whose frequency is then increased by the benzos), barbiturates are full agonist of the said receptor, meaning they can open and keep the channel opened for a long time even in the absence of the neurotransmitter. When the chloride channel is open, a lot of chloride ions pass into the neuron, making it unable to initiate or conduct an electric signal, therefore unable to communicate with another neuron, shutting down entire neuronal network until...well the end.

They don't act on the same receptors so the benzos won't interfere with anything.

So if I was to take 1-2 mg of clonazepam or bromazalam equivalent dose to reduce anxiety/SI it wouldn't interfere with the N's ability to be lethal? That's mainly what I'm concerned about

Yes.

Cross-Tolerance reports are either anecdotal or so minor that you need to be taking benzos more than water in a day to cause any sort of effect.

I actually found a source saying it makes you more vulnerable to phenobarbital because of the interaction. Drugbank appears to agree with my and everyone else's hypothesis.

Do not worry. You are alright.

Thanks... I don't know when I'll be going but I know I'll need the help from the benzos when the time comes. :(

No, not only it won't interfere with N lethality, but could have synergistic effects.

I have mostly heard that benzos enhance the N, but sometimes i hear the opposite. I am tolerant of benzos and my powedered n is ~12 years old and has never been tested except sleep tests a few years ago. I think it's good. And then i worry that, while old, i am physically strong. I don't want it to work halfway.

What do you mean by synergistic effect?

I've heard both and I'm not sure what to believe. I know I will need some kind of assist to calm down when the day comes for me. I hope benzos can be that for me because I'm not sure what to do other than take a little bit of N first for anxiety, then take the rest once I'm calm. But I don't want that to mess up my plans either! Sucks. You're lucky to have powder though. I have liquid :(

Exactly what @lifeisbutadream said. Benzodiazepines enhances the effects of barbiturates; specialty articles like to call this "exagerrating effects" or synergistic effects.
