Either she critisices me for something and I get angry about it which then sets her off worse, or she says I'd live messy like my dad if I have my way and I say she's like her mum and is OCD about it. She always wants the carpets spotless. One bit of fluff and apparently the whole thing needs a hoover. But it's usually the first one

Yeah it's become very bad recently. She always criticises me and I always shout back and sometimes call her names. I'm trying my hardest not to lose my temper but sometimes she says some completely cold, needless stuff. She wants me to go to my dad's for a week asap with no contact. If that happens, I'm tempted to make it permanent and say goodbye. She doesn't seem to want to try hard enough to change. I'm trying my damnedest to change, I'm making a bit of progress but I haven't noticed a change on her part. We still have some good moments but it just keeps dwindling and dwindling

Neither of us work, but it's her flat, paid for by govt because of disability. Could take me 10 years to get the same on a waiting list, assuming I'm not refused

Yeah they penalise single males big time. And if you're not at least sofa surfing, I'll be refused, so I'll have to lie a little bit. My gf got hers in just over a year cos she was in temporary supported accommodation, very expensive for the govt, and she's female obviously. Wish I was a woman.

a bit off topic but ive always thought about running away and living life as a nomad but it's probably not realistic in this day and age due to all the surveillance they have us under.

I've thought about being homeless, but I don't have the first clue how to live like that, especially since being homeless here is virtually ILLEGAL and police will always hassle you telling you to move on... Even if they find you in the middle of the woods or something bothering no-one

Yeah, being homeless would suck, the most annoying part would be not having a toilet or shower. I could sleep a night or two here and there on the streets but I couldn't take it day in and day out.

My gf was homeless for several months to avoid an abusive ex and her abusive mother. I still don't understand how she coped and we've talked about it a lot. God I'm dreading when she wakes up. Sigh. I hope she doesn't criticise me

Very good suggestion, thanks. I wondered what I could do. I've hand written an apology for my shouting etc, and that I'll go to my dad's for a week as much as I don't want to. I'll make her a tea as well as soon as she's up, and hoover the carpet. Not sure what else I can do
