Chapter 1: Mathematical Observations

We begin with some definitions:
A:= Number of additions,
S:= Number of subtractions,
P:= Number of posts,
V:= The current numerical value.

Consider the following theorems:

Theorem I:
S=(P-V)/2.
Proof:
This proof is left to the reader as a simple exercise. QED

Lemma:
A=S+V-1.
Proof:
Obviously V=1+A-S (the 1 is due to the starting post). QED

Theorem II:
A=(P+V)/2-1.
Proof:
The claim follows directly from Theorem I and the preceding lemma. QED

Chapter 2: The State of the Game

After 44471 posts, we are currently resting at a final numerical value of 40082.
We compute by using the formulas of the previous chapter:

S=2194,5.
The decimals are due a few posts that did not abide by the rules of the game.

b) S/P≈5%.

I propose the following solution to this pressing problem:
