Chapter 1: Mathematical Observations

We begin with some definitions:

A:= Number of additions,
S:= Number of subtractions,
P:= Number of posts,
V:= The current numerical value.

Consider the following theorems:

Theorem I:
S=(P-V)/2.

Proof:
This proof is left to the reader as a simple exercise. QED

Lemma:
A=S+V-1.

Proof:
Obviously V=1+A-S (the 1 is due to the starting post). QED

Theorem II:
A=(P+V)/2-1.

Proof:
The claim follows directly from Theorem I and the preceding lemma. QED

Chapter 2: The State of the Game

After 38366 posts, we are currently resting at a final numerical value of 34923.
We compute by using the formulas of the previous chapter:

A=36643,5;
S=1721,5.

The decimals are due a few posts that did not abide by the rules of the game by not including a number.
We observe:

a) A/P≈96%
b) S/P≈4%.

This means that 96% of all posts add a number, but a mere 4% subtract. This disproportion is unacceptable and shameful.

Chapter 3: The Solution

I propose the following solution to this pressing problem:
By subtracting from the current value, we mitigate the number of additions, while boosting the number of subtractions at the same time.
Therefore, we proclaim:
