As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Would you say The Shining movie is a faithful adaption of the book? 1984 is very good. I read it many years ago. I hope you can get some rest. I'm sorry you've been struggling so much lately85,879
Ive gotten back into reading lately. I finished The Shining by Stephen King a few days ago, it was an amazing read. I started reading 1984 by George Orwell but havent read anymore the past two days because ive been struggling mentally.

Oh wow that's crazy. I never knew the book and the movie were that different85,893
You have to look at them as two seperate entities. None of the characters look like how you'd imagine them based on the books and even their personalities are completely different.
Danny in the book is incredibly dynamic and in the movie he's pretty much just an annoying kid to be honest.
Ullman in the movie is nice and in the book he's a douche.
Wendy has literally no personality in the movie.
Hallorann isn't poorly acted but doesnt look anything like how you'd imagine him in the book.
Jack Nicholson is the best performance in the movie but even then he's not quite what you expect based on the book.
The movie has some pretty scary music scores which go well with the theme of the movie.
The scary girls, the maze, the all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy typewriter scene and the "here's Johnny!" Aren't actually feature in the book. Also, in the book Hallorann doesn't die.
Ah yeah with all the changes I really don't blame him for hating it. At least he's honest :(85,896
I dont think i could ever go to a music gig/festival @Amaterasu i have social anxiety and hate being around lots of people.
Also @heavyeyes the book obviously has a lot more backstory. Stephen King has actually said he hated The Shining movie.
sounds like quite a mess.85,894

I'm much the same, that's why I intended on going with someone, though said someone decided to cut contact.
It's only a relatively small gig which, I'm not sure if that makes it more or less manageable. I know he's attending so, it's highly likely that I'm bound to come across him and proceed to have a complete emotional breakdown in public (if I'm not already).
I just don't want the artist tainted because of his actions which I feel will be the outcome if I don't attend.
