I just watched a video where they cut a watermelon in two using rubber bands and it made me wonder, could you just keep putting elastic bands around your neck to generate enough pressure that it would be like a chokehold?
According to reddit:
One problem is that as the rubber bands contract they become relaxed and exert less force until they reach their relaxed size, whereupon they exert no significant force.
It would certainly kill the victim by strangulation. The relaxed rubber bands would then encircle the spine (or what is left of the tendons since we agree to ignore the spine) and the head would flop down and dangle from that point. As the tissues decomposed over time the head would finally drop off. Since you only need to cause fatal strangulation and severe damage to the neck tissue to make it a weak point, you could probably use fewer than ~5000 rubber bands. I can't see any number actually causing the head to pop right off.
