Do you have any strategy for not going crazy with everything bad that happens? Do you have a safe haven?

I don't want to stay alive if I know I'll never be happy and healthy ;-;

I got this list of coping strategies from an outpatient therapy program, maybe they can help you too:

DBT! I have the same handout. It's great for short-term emotional distress

I keep in mind all the times I wanted to die, but didn't, and all the positive things that happened in between. I've met so many people and had so many experiences that I wouldn't have otherwise. CTB eliminates anything good or bad, and in general, I'm glad I'm still here to ponder that decision.

Bad things are going to happen, but good things will happen as well. It's more helpful to me to focus on what the next good thing might be.

Honestly, I never had the best coping mechanisms. On some days I'm so numb that I just don't care when something bad happens.

What if the sense of loss, regret is so great that nothing can even cheer you up... Its always in the background. Unless some miracle happens i dont see a reason to continue

Feeling cheered up isn't really the goal of coping mechanisms. Basically, we cope to wait out the feeling and to reinforce the idea that we can hold on a little longer because we've come this far.

Coping skills that involve distractions and physically caring for yourself aren't to make you feel totally better, just a little bit more comfortable. It's about making the situation more tolerable, not about fixing it or thinking about fixing it, because that's a whole other mountain that can be put aside when we're at our most vulnerable.

All that's important is getting through the here and now.
