I read the guide to partial suspension hanging and I'm confused about noose placement. I looked up diagrams of the carotid artery but did not understand the exact area since different diagrams showed different arteries and they seemed to be on the inside. Is it just supposed to be directly under the jaw?

It is different for different people. I have heard some people have better luck with the rope under the Adam's apple, and some people have better luck with it up under the jaw.

In my attempt, I actually had to keep straightening up and repositioning the rope until I found just the right spot. As everyone's anatomy is different, I suspect it just depends on the person and you're only nice to keep readjusting until you find what works for you.

How do you know you have hit the sweet spot? Can you l find your sweet spot with your fingers before hand like finding the pulse in your neck

I recommend finding the pulse under your jaw and following it downwards. It should be next to your windpipe, so you'll know exactly where yours is

When you do this, be careful not to press too hard, as you could trigger a vagal reflex (although this can be useful in hanging)
