Shout out to the only socially acceptable form of suicide, cigarettes!

Gonna go right ahead and assume that a lot of people on here smoke.

Man, it's always difficult when your family tells you to quit smoking because of the long term health problems it causes. Long term is not an issue for me, so I'm going to enjoy my cigarettes. I might just have one now :)

Haha just noticed this post, so true! I've read smoking is the best prevention against old age, second only to suicide ;) I've always felt that smokers are the most interesting people; they're always the ones outside huddled together when it's cold and wet yet can still muster up a decent flowing conversation, followed by a solemn silence as the final cigs are put out. Then back to work in a silent office only to be discreetly frowned upon by the do-gooders. The office always falls silent when the smokers reappear. Then a non-smoker will always come up to you saying: "I've been looking for you, just wanted to check the progress on...", just loud enough for the boss to hear.

Its hell in NHS hospitals at the minute because they have enforced a smoking ban. They have provided ecigs that apparently are the equivalent of 15cigs. Everyone who has tried them have said they dont feel as if the cravings have gone and tbh i dont think there is any amount of tobbacco in them to feel a nicotine hit anyway. People who are allowed off the ward can smoke proper cigs and the rest of us arnt allowed at all. So yep its led to sneaking cigs where we can and now everyone is even more stressed and feel like their lives are being controlled

Nicorette QuickMist Mouthspray is an excellent alternative. It does exactly what it says, kills your cravings in a few seconds, though it's a bit pricey. Normally I only need one or two sprays. Boots does a cheaper alternative though I haven't tried it.

Anything like that would have to be on perscription and this is a mental health ward. They have things like at provided by the NHS but they arnt very good and they havnt sent the order properly apparently

It's not prescription, it's freely available in Boots and Tescos on the smoking cessation shelves. No other cessation, from my own experience, is as effective at reliving cravings. Check it out on the Internet then ask your doctor, but it's a relatively new product and may not be available on the NHS yet.

Smoker here. I quit for a while a couple of years ago. I sort of hate it and would rather smoke marijuana instead, but it's not legal in this state and I do not have resources to obtain it.

It would really suck to live to see the consequences of smoking. At that point, I think I'd be miserable enough and just catch the bus.

Smoker here too. I tried to quit/actually quit a few times, and hated myself for relapsing. That was back in the days when my health still mattered. I no longer care.

Weed isn't legal here either, but I live near the weed capitol of Australia and have family there. So luckily I have the ability to obtain it easily, and I smoke a lot of bud. And it really, really helps. Although I do still smoke cigarettes too, which cost $30 AUD a pack. Maybe highest in the world? Cheaper to smoke weed haha
