An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.
Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.
I hope you won't mind the question, especially since you've said you no longer believe in God (I'm agnostic).... I hear/read a lot of religious people question the "evil" in the world--why "good people" suffer. And I can't stop wondering why our suffering would matter more than the suffering of the billions of other living things so many of us (not at all suggesting you or anybody else here) willingly participate in. If we who are like gods to other beings clearly capable of suffering often choose not to intervene to lessen their suffering, why must a being like a god to us intervene to prevent or lessen our suffering?
Hope I'm not offending you by asking. Please PM me if you'd rather. Thanks for at least considering my question. Best to you...
I don't believe my suffering matters more than others, and if I had the power to end any ones suffering I would. To have the power and do nothing in my opinion is one of the greatest acts of evil. God is supposedly the creator of everything there is. Yet this supposedly Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent God requires from us, according to his followers, to beg him for guidance and assistance through prayer at the time of our suffering. If we don't love and obey this supposedly supreme power, as punishment he will throw us in the pits of hell to burn for all eternity - pure narcissism. I am not offended at all by your question, but somewhat confused. You are asking me something that I have not made any claims of, nor have the power to intervene in the suffering of humanity. This God wont stop a child from dying from hunger, even though he can. This God won't stop child abuse, rape or murder, even though he can. Being the creator, shouldn't this God take responsibility for the mess he created?
If you're ever willing to discuss this in more detail, I'd enjoy it very much--but there's no expectation or implicit obligation. Thank you for sharing more of your perspective. I really don't mean to make anyone feel I'm challenging them. I just don't understand. For now, allow me to say this confuses me quite a bit: "To have the power and do nothing in my opinion is one of the greatest acts of evil." I agree with your sentiment. And I think very many people at least claim to agree. What confuses me is that we humans do have this power and yet, calling ourselves "good," many/most of us choose either not only not to intervene to stop the suffering of beings we feasibly could do so for, but also often to contribute to their suffering. I realize we're not gods. But if we expect mercy from a being far, far greater than we are, I'd think, to be consistent, ought to extend analogously mercy to the countless beings we very often don't do so for.
Thought I don't believe in any kind of human-recognizable god, I can imagine if such a being existed it might ask the same question of us: "shouldn't [humanity] take responsibility for the mess [it has] created?"
Just some questions I've been looking for coherent insight into. Again, hope I haven't offended. Best to you.
Yes. If you google there are several videos on youtube in the US supporting that you will still enter into heaven if you have believed that Jesus died on the cross for your sins.

Not offended at all. Thanks for your input. God gave us free will. Which is why we are so messed up to begin with. However, even though we have free will, I don't see why we should struggle so much that we want to die and that we should just suffer through this pain
Just as a preface, I'm not trying to convert anyone. Just explaining my beliefs. I'm so thankful for a place where we can express our perspectives. This is how I see it and am just sharing this.
I do not feel I'm a part of the institutional church so much as I am part if the biblically defined "church", a "called out one". Part of the "Body of Christ". I feel the institutional church has gone wrong in so many ways.
I am a believer in Christ and I do believe that all of my sins, past present and future, were paid for at the cross. That includes suicide. He knew before He created me what I would do in life. As far as the Ten Commandments are concerned, I have broken all of them. Jesus said if you even think someone is a fool you are a murderer. I'm a murderer already! I cannot be perfect enough, that's why He had to live a perfect life and die for me.
I know ctb is not what the Lord wants for me and it's not good for my witness of Him. But I know that He loves me and knows my pain. If i do end up going by ctb i know i will be welcomed to Heaven and be with Him forever.
That's my perspective. Everyday I fight but I am growing more and more weary. I dont know if I will make it without ctb. Lately I'm just about certain I wont make it.
The catch all explanation for the lack of intervention of God to end the evil thats happening in the world that I heard was that all this suffering is caused by Satan. who will soon take over the earth, and only after the apocalypse begins and he is defeated will the suffering end. However, I dont remember what exactly keeps God from being able to stop him until then and free us from pain

There is a line in theology that justifies God's inactivity and apparent apathy with 2 reasons:
1- He is giving time for people to repent of their sins, ask for forgiveness and start being righteous. If he were to act now most of the human population would be wiped out as most of us are active and regular sinners.
2- He is also allowing Satan to demonstrate his (in)ability to rule the Earth. He does this as a way to show his angels that only He has what it takes to rule and that any eventual rebellion of angels against him is destined to fail.
