Well it's hardly rocket science. You put something tight enough round your neck for long enough and you'll die.

I believe they managed to:
1) Find a ligature/material (including supporting frame) to be sufficient to hold their weight and not break.
2) Manage to cut off blood supply to their brain (their carotid) while not restricting their airways (leading to unconsciousness quickly)
3) Enough time (usually more than 30 minutes, possibly much longer) to fully CTB, well after the chance of being saved/resuscitated.

With that said, I am not an expert on hanging, whether it be partial or full, but those factors are just from my basic understanding of how the method works.

Hanging is as old as human consciousness and as easy to perform as washing dishes with enough determination/desperation.

I've been a fan since the mid 90's. It's only appropriate that I go out like he did. I even felt like he stole my method, I had been thinking of partial for years before he did it. I know he didn't really steal it lol but that's the reaction I had at first. He had been singing about hanging for most of his career anyway. My screen name comes from one of my favorite Soundgarden songs after all.

I hope that I'm able to be successful at partial as well.

I tried it with a bathrobe belt 10 years ago. I passed out, but woke up on the floor and the belt had ripped. I guess successful attempts make it seem easy.

If it were that simple, many more would have been gone by now. Do you speak from experience?

I have the rope and tried a few times without ever blacking out - tingling and get that drifting off feeling. I've managed to book into a hotel for a couple of nights and going to give it another try.

I've experimented enough to know I could go using this method or tourniquet if I wanted to.

Out of respect for his wife, children and all the lives CC touched with his poetry and music, I would like to ask you if you would consider deleting his name from the thread.

CC battled addiction for most of his life and his suicide was anything but easy - the details of his last hours can be found online.

Let's give this great man the respect he deserves.

I don't really think it was easy for him, nor for anyone who went with this method or any other method really. I think everyone who killed themselves were going through a horrible ocean of emotions especially the day they planned to do it, and even more so right before they did it. I think they were all crying or at the very least in a lot of misery and pain and suffering. And I think most of the methods were even scarier because of how painful they are, including hanging. I think that all these people that hanged themselves were in a lot of pain and it keeps me awake at night thinking about it.

I'm talking about the method itself. It's kinda obvious who commitee suicide is going thru a lot of pain.

No I know, I'm sorry I didn't mean to make it look like I think you thought they were feeling ok. I just thought it was worth mentioning that even if it seems simple, all the feelings involved do not make it simple in the end. I'm sorry if I made it look like I think you are insensitive, I was afraid I would come off as that, but it wasn't my intention I promise. I know you know better, I know you feel that same pain too❤️

If you don't care how much it hurts, or how your head feels or what artery you're pressing, hanging is simple.

Remember that, as a general rule, we're here looking for the most painless ways to die. Lots of people, especially those who commit impulsively, are not interested in studying suicide methodologies. They are willing to push through pain until death results. Maybe they feel that the pain is part of the deal. We'll never know.

I think what you are actually asking is 'how did they manage to go through with it'. Hanging has to be the simplest and most reliable of all methods. I mean all those people inable to find something stable to fix a fucking rope to are a mystery to me.

Finding something to hold 200 lbs that isn't a tree is harder than it sounds.

Well I might be biased but in the house I live in alone I could name at least ten places I could fix a rope that would hold 500lbs. Does this make me priviliged in a kind of morbid way?

In my hotel I've found a shower rail that seems very strong - I wrapped the rope around it then additionally around the shower fitting itself. Seems like it will hold me.

Name 5. Can't find 1 in place that will hold my weight in my house.
