It doesn't matter how perfect one's life is (or appears to be), depression can affect anyone. Cheslie Kryst was absolutely gorgeous, rich, and popular. Things were bad enough for her to ctb by jumping from the 30th floor.

Age, specifically her turning 30, may have been what finalize her decision. I can relate totally, as that is the reason I'm planning to ctb myself.

Goes to show that even having the "perfect" life doesn't stop someone from ctb. I think the sad thing about celebrity deaths is that they will often be exploited by the media for clicks. Seems they can't even rest in peace.

She seems like a great person, I wish I could have known about her before her death. I kind of feel bad that I only heard about her through this. She shouldn't be remembered just for her death.

i had to come onto this site to see if there was any talk about her. i woke up and saw the news first thing yesterday morning. seeing that made me feel like i'm missing out. the way she took her life was one of the ways i had in mind for years.
but it makes me cry hearing about other people have made their decision before i have. it makes me wonder if it worked out for them in the end, whatever they had hoped or what they were trying to leave behind. if there's anything there at all for them now.
she seemed like a radiant person, i just wonder what happened to make her finalize this life. i wonder if it's similar to how i feel. so many questions.

She wrote this:

"A grinning, crinkly-eyed glance at my achievements thus far makes me giddy about laying the groundwork for more, but turning 30 feels like a cold reminder that I'm running out of time to matter in society's eyes — and it's infuriating,"

and

"Each time I say 'I'm turning 30,' I cringe a little," she wrote. "Sometimes I can successfully mask this uncomfortable response with excitement; other times, my enthusiasm feels hollow, like bad acting.

"Society has never been kind to those growing old, especially women. (Occasional exceptions are made for some of the rich and a few of the famous.).

"I fought this fight before and it's the battle I'm currently fighting with 30," she wrote. "How do I shake society's unwavering norms when I'm facing the relentless tick of time? It's the age-old question: What happens when 'immovable' meets 'unstoppable?'"

Obviously her life was far from perfect if she decided to kill herself. Perhaps it's more important to be able to enjoy things than having grandiose achievements.

Based on my previous post, I think she jumped because she couldn't handle / didn't want to be 30 years old. Age and time are the two things that nothing can stop or change. My life isn't bad, and I'm going to ctb for the same reason.

And yet, most people are more than fine with being freaking 30 yo. It's not being senile or anything. Something else must been going on in her head. If she thought that youthful looks are the only thing that matters in life then that is just shortsighted.

Maybe, but I don't want to look or feel old either. At 40, I feel I've been here 5 years too long already. The difference between me today, and 20 years ago makes me want to ctb right now - it's depressing af.

This is so sad. :aw: I hope she finds eternal peace now, which all her worldly human achievements could not give her.

I can never understand why some people idolise celebrities and wish to be like them. Just because they have fame, money, looks etc. doesn't mean they are at peace with themselves. Being a celeb brings with it its own set of challenges and difficulties and some celebs are not able to cope with this.

Those who are filthy rich but maintain a very low profile have it better than celebs, in my opinion, unless they live under a tyrannical regime where a scumbag bloodthirsty dictator like Putin or Xi can grab their wealth and throw them in prison.

This woman seemed like she was mortally scared of aging, and wanted to CTB at her peak. I don't blame her. Many of us here are equally scared of getting old, may be not at thirty, which is not quite old.

Unfortunately, if one is born in this world, one has to get old and die, along with all the suffering one experiences along the way.

I was brought into this existence without my consent, and am suffering as a result. I refuse to inflict the same suffering on someone else. I'm an antinatalist.

From what is mentioned in the media, this lady also caught the bus without procreating. At least she didn't fall prey to societal pressure to have kids and leave them orphaned when she caught the bus. And she chose a difficult way of CTB. I hope she didn't suffer. Rest in peace!

Yes the dream is wealth that is not well advertised with no fame

At least that's what I would want before ultimately CTB

I also thought of this thread and it is certainly a worthy issue in its own right. I think what's interesting about this story, at least for me, is that it's about someone who seemingly had it all, at least by society's standards, and still suffered enough pain to ctb. She seemed like an awesome person, RIP.

People like the kardashian only started peacking after 30. Kim K is 40+ now and although she is plastic, she has never been this pretty.

I think something else was going on in her life. Yes aging SUCKS but I think she had a mental illness that expressed itself maybe through the need to remain young. I don't think she wanted to live in the first place. Suicidal people are suicidal and then that suicidality feeds on whatever struggle the person is going through and amplifies it.

she probably also didn't want children because it'd negatively impact her beauty.

Physically a person peaks in their 20s or at latest, early 30s. As you age beyond that, you need to have more in life to compensate for it, imo. Honestly, only wealth and if you want, fame, can do it. At some point, even that may not be enough to delude yourself that life is still ok. Eventually you reach a point where life is below death.

There was a post here saying noone cares if you die when you are unattractive woman

Here I'm going to say: everyone cares if you die when you are attractive, rich and famous. They will also spread rumors and share false guesses on why you ctb'ed

@roguetrader is kind of correct. Looks-wise both men and women peak around mid 20s to early 30s. Physically, meaning some sports like mma and bodybuilding, you can peak in your 30s to early 40s

Yup.....what you have on the outside doesn't matter when something heavy is going on .... on the inside. This is a perfect example, unfortunately.

Suicide should be a legal right. I won't lie though if I looked like her and her physical health I doubt I'd kill myself.
We're all very different and have different reasons. I don't think there is an essential "suicide mental gene" that unites us.
