Story Celebrating new life as I take mine

So I'm setting up my nitrogen gas mask and everything when my neighbor knocks on door and says I'm invited to his baby shower next week in the apartment above me. Wow, something poetic about me taking my life as a new one is celebrated and ushered in. Makes me happy as well as worried for the child life, do many conflicted feelings. Should i bring my energy into a place like that, i doubt it. but would it disrespect the new life to simply scar that day with my death. IDK

You seem happy about it, so take that part there with you. Leave everything else behind. Just for an evening. Maybe leave the parents a note thanking them.

Perhaps enjoy the evening anyways. Celebrate a new life before welcoming the end of your own. You could make an appearance, congratulate the parents to be, and politely excuse yourself if it's too much to stay the entire event.
It seems you are too happy about it to ignore the invite, but I understand feeling too anxious to stay or even want to show. I only suggest trying because you do seem happy about it.

Perhaps, at the very least it might give me a chance to wear a new tailored suit i never got the chance to wear. but I've also been keeping a personal promise to not interact with anyone until I'm gone, too many opportunities to be dishonest and lead people to notice me when all i want is to disappear. I'll leave it up for the day and if i truly feel inspired too i might stop by.
