If I were to rent a garage storage unit and park my car inside and keep it running, is the carbon monoxide poisoning actually fatal. How often does that fail?

Modern cars are fit with catalytic converters that filter out most of the CO. Wouldn't risk it tbh.

I have an 1984 sigma with not catalytic converter, and apparently can produce mass amounts of monoxide. If I idled it in the garage for a while, is it likely to work?
