• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I have personally lost all faith in the mental healthcare system. They tell me to deal with my problems myself and to ignore what I cannot control. That's pretty hard unless I smoke myself high in my room all day and night. Ironically, I'm told to participate in society to make myself feel better. Witnessing human everyday life always makes me feel worse. The rentless high standards and competition. If I'm not creative or hot enough, I'm excluded. Then so many hobbies and interests are tied to consumerism. I don't feel a pull toward that. Pls don't be too hard on me. I posted in a therapist forum and got grilled/judged by therapists for not simply going for my goals and having drug problems.

This did a great job of putting the way I feel about a lot of things into clear language. Thanks for sharing it. It's kind of wild to me that the video is seven years old and it seems like in that time period the world has just gotten deeper into all the problems she talks about.

A common thread that runs through all of my therapeutic experiences is the underlying fervency with which I'm being sold on the notion that all of my naughty sad person thoughts can be dissipated by the wondrous, all-purpose solvent of adherence to ideological neoliberalism.

I work in a field that involves helping people with mental illness and it is DIRE. At time I feel like my coworkers think that helping these people is less "help them live their life to the fullest in the face of the challenges they have" and more "if they have a job bagging groceries, we did it!". Inpatient for me wasn't much better, in fact one of the people I work with pointed the similarity of their environment out and yeah, fair. At the end of the day, as long as the capitalist systems we live in deem a "good life" as a merely "productive member of society" (that being a profit driven orphan crushing machine world), then compassion for aiding those in need will always come second to monetary gain. ESPECIALLY in a post Citizens United world. I don't know what solution will work at this point, but the apathy of the general public does not instill a lot of confidence in me for any of them.

Beautifully said, you articulated exactly what I've been thinking. Feels like I haven't been taken seriously at all because I'm a uni honors student who also worked on the side. My therapist literally told me "you're not a failure! at least you are not a crackhead living under the bridge." I'm probably a mild case in their eyes because of this. They won't understand how critical the situation is until I take my life (hopefully soon).

I was a straight A student, would have been a valedictorian candidate if i didn't do my last two years of high school in a community college. I did everything "right" before a crashed and burned, and suddenly all that praise slowly turned to scorn when I didn't magically know how to live life. No one taught me how, I was smart, I'd figure it out, right? You're not alone. One way or another, people like us will find a way out. As much as I wish for the end, some part of me still holds out hope for life. I don't think I'll be able to end it until I know hope really is lost.
