  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Take this article with a HUGE grain of salt. After reading the article and stumbling across the following lines, it became clear that there is a real slant in this article.

"Every innocent human life is infinitely valuable and should be protected from conception to natural death."

"As Christians, we continue to work for the protection of those at the margins of society – those who need a listening ear or monetary help, rather than a deadly needle in the arm as a part of the government's "final solution."

"If you or someone you know is struggling, and you don't know where to turn, Focus on the Family is here to help."

"Focus offers a one-time
counseling consultation with a licensed or pastoral counselor free of charge thanks to generous donor support. If you would like to request a consultation with Focus' Counseling Department, call 1-855-771-HELP (4357) weekdays from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM (Mountain Time) or complete our Counseling Consultation Request Form

Impossible, but it could mean that maybe other countries around the world will change their laws as well, usually work this way

This has been a focal point of obsession for me since I came across the articles and the commercial glorifying it.

I'm mid-30s. Isolated completely. No family. I wish I could put myself down. I don't want to say too much about my situation.

But I need friends or compassion. I hate sleeping through my days. I miss being a part of something.

Sometimes I wish to be a dog for this reason

Well if people are able to get it then lucky them. At least to me it sounds ideal to be euthanised and it's good to hear that more countries seem to be legalising it. I envy those who get it, sadly I'm from the UK where the subject of suicide is still very stigmatised.

While I understand how this could be taken positively by people on this site, please understand that this is a slippery slope. There has already been several circumstances where people were seeking out medical help and counseling and were suggested to partake in euthanasia. While I'm glad to see the expansion, I do not trust the governement nor the professionals at large to have the nuance and discernment to execute this properly.

Lets keep in mind that those who struggle with mental health are already at a disadvantage and this poses a huge risk for people who do not have resources to access the help they need.

A slippery slope indeed.

So is AI/chatGPT.

A part of me wants to slide down that slope like the penguin in Fight Club.
They are shifting the forbidden to the "convenient".
Soon death will be another customization in life. Glamorous even. "I'm so privileged I get to die by the sea in Tahiti". 😂

*UK MPs asking for your input today*

Did you see today's post — Re : "UK MP Committee looking for *your* opinion / *Survey " ?

This is our / your chance to speak your very well articulated opinion on legalizing euthanasia in UK

Thank you 🙏

I'm Canadian and I take this lower than a grain of salt. The prerequisites for this are going to be so unbelievably hard to achieve. Everyone here thinks they're going to be able to call and be like "hello, I'll take 1 ctb please". I can guarantee you that more people are going to get locked up in a loony bin trying to get MAID than people will be successful. This is not going to be for people with the normal depression. This is going to be for people so violently Bipolar or schizophrenic that they pose more harm to others than good.

I honestly feel like aliens entering my room with two cups of SN, a bottle full of N, a neatly tied rope, a load 12 gauge shotgun with 00 buckshot, and a blowjob is more likely to happen than getting approved without a violent terminal illness.

I did a bunch more reading on these proposed changes to Canada's euthanasia regime on websites other than the right-wing dailycitizen.focusonthefamily website that the OP originally cited in their post, and it does seem like this is exactly what the Canadians are planning to do. I'll say one thing and that is if these changes do happen, I know there is going to be an issue develop between the US and Canada. The US is a very pro-life country, notwithstanding the few states that allow euthanasia on a narrow level. Joe Biden is a very pro-life president, even if he believes it is a woman's right to choose in the case of abortion, although his personal beliefs are very much against abortion. He manages to reconcile these two beliefs in that case, but I can't imagine he would be OK with euthanizing mentally ill people, even if that is what they choose. There is no way the US is going to be OK with this.

If I am not mistaken with a Belgium residency and a severe psychiatric condition, irrespective of your citizenship, you can make a request for euthanasia in that country. It is not automatic, a couple of doctors and specialists will need to make several assessments but the possibility exists.

I do have issues with how canada implemented it's suicide laws, for starters hospitals are referring people to p.a.s who don't want to die they want treatment. This will actually set the right to die movement back as there are not enough safeguards between people ho may be terminally ill and want better treatment vs. people who want to cut their losses.

This isn't even a real news source. I'm Canadian. I hope ppl don't believe everything on this site without validating sources.
Lmao. the first few lines are hilarious. If it sounds too good to be true, it is! There have been some incidences where disabled people were offered MAID instead of treatment and financial help to live. To me it seems like they just want to euthanize people who are too disabled to work. I really doubt any depressed or anxious person with a robust and young able body will be approved for MAID

This was supposed to come into effect in March of this year but the government has chickened out and postponed it.
