I don't know much about Portugal, but if I remember correctly, they were historically Catholic and are still pretty religious until the last few decades. As far as pro-life defeats, I'm happy to hear that as that means it's another step closer to having legal voluntary euthanasia for the people who would benefit from it (terminally ill and those with chronic physical conditions). I concur with @trynacbt in regards to why a lot of people (majority of the populace) didn't support or understand why people wish to end their own lives because they never experienced the same amount of suffering that individual has, or even those who do, still have an selfish projection of their values onto others (for example those who did suffer but still insist that life is worth it). Those people are one of the most vile, disgusting, selfish and inhumane monsters out there since they feel like they know what's best for people who aren't them. I strongly condemn those people as they have no excuse and are sadistically pushing their own values onto others.
