Yes, absolutely. You can also just test your tap water and then use it for the test if it doesn't show anything.

You definitely can. Just boil the tap water and let the steam condense into a container - that's distilled water. No magic to it. It's still better to buy it, of course, but you can achieve a pretty reasonable outcome doing it at home

But I have a question, why do you want to create distilled water yourself?
You can easily buy it, for example, at a supermarket or gas station.
Alternatively, go to the pharmacy, but they probably have expensive distilled water, so it's not worth it.
