please remove this post if i violate any rules.

my gf told me there is cyanide in apple seeds and that if you have crush them and eat enough of them, it can be lethal

ive personally been looking into exit mask for a while but logistically its a hassle.

can this be as simple as going to local grocery store, buying like 100 apples, grinding them with a mortar and pestle, and adding to a smoothie?

i also heard somewhere that cyanide suicide can be uncomfortable as you literally have to feel yourself suffocate. is that true?

thank you for reading

From what I have read, uncomfortable would be an understatement for cyanide toxicity. I can't speak to the viability of crushing up any given number of apple seeds with the aim of ingesting them for a suicide, whether in terms of chances of success or likelihood of long-term irreversible physiological damage. But my understanding is that is it a horrible way to go.

My personal preference is a death that is peaceful and reliable. Your personal preference is not necessarily the same. But I would not go into it expecting it to be 'uncomfortable' at most. I'm sorry you have reached a point where you need to consider this. I hope that you find peace in some form for yourself.

Then why do spies request for cyanide capsules? I heard those who took it died before they hit the ground.

Is that another type of cyanide?

I'm going to be dumb here for a second... because I am not knowledgeable in this area so dumb is applicable...

DO real life "spies" really do this? It's all over TV and movies and fiction... but, is it a real thing that real-life espionage agents actually bite cyanide capsules for a near-instant death? So much is exaggerated in our fiction, that I've never felt too sure this was a real thing. Cyanide = poison, yes... but in that manner to be as quick and seemingly near-painless? I'd be surprised.

I can't speak for spies as such, but it is known that many high-ranking Nazi officials committed suicide by the use of cyanide pills either immediately before capture or at some point after capture. I will note that I didn't make any claim as to the speed of the death; by what accounts I recall, death from suicide by cyanide capsules typically occurred within minutes. But those minutes are supposedly excruciating, from what I recall of reading observers' reports (we obviously can't know what the actual deceased were experiencing firsthand). Speaking personally, when I am in pain, time freezes, or at least slows down such that moments become lifetimes. If cyanide toxicity is such a horrific pain, even dying in what a clock would count as minutes would, to me personally, feel like centuries of pure agony.

To reiterate: I made no claim in my previous comment about the speed of death from cyanide toxicity, through a capsule or the theoretical use of hundreds of crushed apple seeds. I do know that it is reported to take a matter of minutes. Your stance may be that a few minutes of agony is a fair trade for an eternal escape from the suffering that is life. I won't invalidate that, because I don't live your experience. As someone who does not tolerate pain well in any way, though, I am giving my opinion that death from cyanide toxicity is horrible, and that more peaceful options exist.

This isn't to mention whether the apple seed method suggested by the OP would actually be effective, or whether it would work in the same way as a chewed-on capsule of pure cyanide. I don't know, and I don't profess to know. What I do know is that I for one don't like to gamble, so I would not choose a method where I don't have strong evidence of it being peaceful and reliable.

Oh, I didn't mean to suggest you did... I was just asking because I think a lot of people watch movies and think there exists a pill they can bite on and it kills them almost instantly... and I've never been aware of such a thing. From everything I've ever looked into it, cyanide pills were a thing though not nearly so common as movies would have you think... but someone would take minutes or more to die, if they died... many survived with injuries... but as you say, those would be excruciating minutes and time slows down for you, so for your experience it might feel like an eternity to die this way.

And, yeah, I don't know if the grinding apple seeds thing would work either. It might very well take so many that you'd wear yourself out grinding them or be unable to eat enough before you got sick first.

One of my coworkers mentioned that cyanide works by essentially cramping all your muscles so you can't breathe. So imagine a calf cramp but everywhere while you are trying to breathe but you can't breathe because all your muscles are stuck in a cramp. I can't vouch for validity of this but it doesn't sound like a peaceful way to go. It does work as a bus ticket though...

Apple seeds dont contain much to kill you. Even when crushed, you need a lot of seeds to make a good amount. 2mg/kg is considered dangerous. Each apple seeds on avg contains about 10-20 mcg of amygdalin. You need about 10 or 20 of them to make 1mg and more of amygdalin. Amygdalin is the compound that will be broken down into Hydrogen Cyanide by your body's enzymes.

There's barely any cases about cyanide poisoning from apple seeds. However, bitter almonds on the other hands are far more dangerous. A single bitter almond contains about 2-4 mgs of amygdalin. That's the reason why it's banned. Don't mistake sweet almonds for bitter almonds. Sweet almonds contain barely any amount of amygdalin to make any dent.

Bitter almonds are banned all over the U.S as far as I know that's been the case for a while. Owning them or growing them is legal. Selling them raw for consumption isn't. You can buy them over on alibaba, but there's a chance they won't make it to your door if you live in a country where they're banned. If they are labeled as "unsafe for consumption," then maybe? Not entirely sure. Things that are unsafe can be destroyed and seized by customs. Also holy shit they are expensive. Apple seeds will probably cost you way less, but much more work. Each listing on alibaba has a min order of like 1 ton or 2 tons.
I don't know if I did the math right, but if an apple has a minimum of 5 seeds, and you need 10 for 1mg of amygdalin. That means 2 apples will give you 1mg, x 90kg (my bodweight).

I will need to buy 180 apples and crush them to reach the MINIMAL lethal dose, so still a 50% chance it might not work...

EDIT: 2mg/kg so I need 360 apples. My Lord...

Are there apple seeds for sale?

Hard to achieve, but in theory, you can eventually collect lethal dose from seeds. Another thing to consider probably would by the apples cultivar/variant. Cyanide salts can also degrade during the process. I'm also assuming you won't be taking another step to isolate the cyanide from the rest of the seed smoothie; vomiting is highly probable if someone ingested that much seed smoothie.

Well fun fact. Apparently cyanide capsules were commonly issued during WW2 for spies from some European countries. Hitler and his gal took cyanide when they were about to be captured

And apparently - Google search - it was pretty quick, although not painless.

also Google search...there is no equivalent to these capsules today. It's just for the movies.

Bros tryna end his shit with the Granny Smith method. I only read the title but you'd need hundreds of apples and even then it's not enough to kill.

Actually I did the math wrong I forgot I was talking in micrograms (MCG) Idk how to delete so I just reported it. 100mcg doesn't equal to 1mg, it equals 0.1mg. 1000mcg equals to 1mg. SO SORRY!

So lets assume all the seeds you'd get are 10mcg, in that case you need 100 of them to make 1000mcg which is 1mg.

You're 90kg 2mg/kg x 90 = 180 mg

180 x 1000 = 180,000 mcg

180,000/10mcg (assuming all seeds are 10mcg) = 18,000 seeds

I hope I did the math right this time. It's way too much apple seeds needed.
Correct me if Im wrong.
