Buying weed on the DN is a royal pain in the ass

So frustrating. My restlessness is driving me mad. I need some weed. But buying it on the DN is a nightmare. First you have to buy crypto, lots of hurdles. Takes at least half an hour. Then you have to convert it to Monero. Hassle. Need a separate Monero wallet for that. Then you have to find a usable market. Then you have to create an account. Then you have to find appropriate weed. Then you have to go through the process of buying it and transferring monero. Then you have to wait for it to arrive. Then when it's arrived, you have to confirm receipt on the market.

It's like it's designed to infuriate. Or to make it really hard for some people. I'm tempted to just use local contacts instead and use good old cash.

And anyway. What happened to all the old markets? I haven't bought anything since Incognito went rogue. The newer ones (all two of them) on tor.taxi have awful filter features

I mean seems like you're doing self custody and that is definitely a lot more work than just buying XMR on some random KYC exchange(I wouldn't recommend any other way). Upside is that basically no law agency is going to bother with prosecution since proving that you specifically made the payment is nigh impossible (depending on your country's laws etc and what kind of burden of proof they need), downside is that as you describe - it's a hurdle to get past. Cash is anonymous as well, so if that's what you're most comfortable with I would just go that route depending on how much police surveil small drug deals where you're from..

Thanks. unfortunately it's now illegal to sell XMR in the UK now so the only way to do it is by swapping some crypto for XMR. But yeh I think Im going to go the cash route

Yeah they're making it harder and harder to get hold of XMR in the UK. Exodus wallet no longer supports XMR like you used to be able to swap other crypto to XMR in the app but that's no longer possible. You can still hold XMR though I usually just buy LTC or any other crypto and swap through trocador.app you don't even need to create an account it's really easy and fees are really low practically nothing.

A 30-year-old German citizen was detained in Barcelona and a private PGP key was seized belonging to the owner of Archetyp under the nickname ASNT (aka YosemiteGhostWrite / BigBossChefOfArchetyp). Archetyp was considered the largest DNM in the Western darknet. Over 5 years of operation (from May 2020 to June 2025), DNM management received £220 million in revenue. RIP to the best market to ever exist
