I was browsing and saw a thread that mentioned getting someone to buy a firearm for another who was not legally allowed to own a firearm. I posted in my other thread but this deserves its own.
For any death involving a firearm, the firearm will be ran to see if stolen. Nearly every time law enforcement will request the ATF to run a trace on it to figure out the original purchaser. That person then becomes the subject of the investigation if the gun ended up in the hands of someone who was not legally allowed to own it. If you buy a guy for someone else its called a "straw purchase" and is punishable by up to 15 years in federal prison and up to a $250,000 fine. Just something that deserves consideration.
