If you're from the UK then you'll be familiar with this suicide saga. A spate of suicides fifteen years ago, where dozens of young people hung themselves in short succession.

If your friend, partner or relative took their own life, would it give you greater confidence or licence to follow suit?

I would envy them, in fact I always envy those who manage to overcome all the difficulties involved in voluntarily leaving this world, I think I would only feel confident in ctb if I had access to a guaranteed method that would easily free me from everything but sadly such a thing would always be far too good to be true.

No pain no gain in this weird world. One moment of courage and they're free. Almost all of them went with partial, and FSH is as good as a guarantee as you'll get in the UK. Quick and decisive. Guns are messy, drowning is downright depressing, jumping is too chancy, poisoning is halfhearted. It'll only get more AS, so I'll be going before they ban water as well.

Sorry doesn't really answer your question… but —

Below is my post from recent thread about suicide contagion — Apologies can't add that link atm — But seems relevant factor , among others :

///

Dr David Healy's blog + all comments + their links :

*Multiple specific factors explored + plausible =
Bio-Psycho-Social — a term I dislike in psychiatry — but fits in a general forensic sense —

For full insight— please see all the comments + their links - Eg - the 'theatrical hanging' performance for the local children 🥺

Left Hanging: Suicide in Bridgend – Dr. David Healy

Many people are unaware of just how many prescription drugs can trigger and cause suicide, suicidal acts and homicide.

I read the article, the comments and links below. A lot of people smell a cover up and at the very least, something fishy. I agree, to a degree, with the concenus. I don't think we'll ever see something similar covered on woke media ever again here in England again.

Er… "woke media"? What that supposed to mean? People who think there is such a thing as "woke media" are typically not very rooted in reality.

Also, from what I know anti-depressants do not exactly trigger suicidal thoughts, their role in increased suicide risks is kind of complicated. Many depressed people are too exhausted/depressed to actually try a suicide attempt, so in a sense, being at rock bottom keeps them safe from suicide attempts since they are not able to do anything. During the early stages of using anti-depressants the individual would start to become more productive and less tired, but is still suicidal enough to actually make an attempt, which they might do since now they actually have the will to be doing things. Hence the possible increase in suicide risk on the short term of starting an anti-depressant.

You're the one in the dark I'm afraid. I don't know where you're from (maple syrup land - sounds mature) but here the BBC is super woke. I suggest you do some light digging and you'll find many such articles to educate yourself. Unless of course, you're woke yourself, which wouldn't surprise me at all.

As for antidepressants, I've experienced a few back in the day and they didn't make me so. And millions are on them, there'd be far more suicides if it was just down to that. Most of the youngsters here took more than that, but you'd know that if you read the article in full.

The whole point is that these suicide incidents happened in relatively quick succession and all individuals used partial as a method. The media definitely didn't help. Mass copycatting is a rare phenomenon and we're either dealing with the perform storm or something a little more sinister.

I mean, nothing immature about a little touch of humour. People who use the term "woke" un-ironically really need to step out of their echo chambers and reevaluate their sources. And you have not answered my question, what is "woke" even supposed to mean? Anything that disagrees with you?

Debating with the ignorant such as yourself is not a happy pastime of mine. I suggest you continue to live in your fantasy woke free world full of maple syrup and sarcasm. You likely voted Biden and follow Kim Kardashian. 👏

The sentiment is mutual. A very nice strawman you've set up, but I am Canadian, not American. There is a bigger world out there if you bothered to look.

Ah, the Country which supports assisted dying. You probably weren't aware of that either. I've travelled the world, whereas I doubt you've even crossed the border.

I am aware, just because an individual has academic accreditations themselves does not mean that all they write is true. I am not aware of any peers supporting his "research", so I would take it with a massive grain of salt. There were plenty of licensed medical professionals who jumped on the antivax bandwagon.

I have no desire to keep conversing with an inflammatory fellow such as yourself. I have been to many countries due to my unusual life circumstances, but that would not be of any concern to you.

Have a great day.

Yes, because you lost the debate a long while back. I've travelled the world too, so no bonus points for you. You need to manage your anger and learn how to construct a case.

Have a great day.
