  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

For those who have went through a traumatic brain injury or brain damage, when did you first realized— or rather who told you, how did you find out?

Was there any big differences or small ones?

I particularly feel that I have brain damage due to SH methods I had done before but never really bothered checking myself up with a doctor.

I din't even realize that it was possible, I forgot about it until I came to a realization of some sort. I'm not sure when— or how it happened but I guess a shock went through me because I couldn't recognize a particular thing or how someone mentioned how abruptly I changed, how I was never like that.

I do feel I been like this my whole life, and sometimes I wonder if brain damage can even cause such huge things, but yes, it does of course.. I do wish to be in denial.

I could be wrong, maybe I'm mental, but then again doesn't brain damage lead to mental health issues either way?

I guess honestly it would make sense for feeling hopeless often.

Whether I have brain damage or not I do wish to understand either way how it can really affect you up badly from other peoples experiences.

What SH methods were you using before?

personally nally do not have brain damage but my dad sustained a TBI a few years back. It impacted his ability to concentrate and, by extension, his memory. He tends to have a lot more issues with forgetting his stuff compared to before. He also has talked about having some problems with vision since the accident.

With that in mind, how brain damage or TBIs impact someone can differ greatly from person to person and depends very heavily on where the damage is, severity, the age of the person who sustained said damage, and the person themself. For example, damage to the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) may lead to issues with emotional regulation, impulse control, decision-making, socializing, and orienting response. Meanwhile, somebody who sustains damage to the ventral stream (a pathway that runs from the primary visual cortex to the inferior temporal lobe) is probably going to report more issues with things, like visual object recognition (associative visual agnosia), rather than issues with things like impulse control. Along with that, in the case of those with OFC damage, the degree of severity of their individual symptoms caused by this kind of damage and how they manifest can differ in some capacity on an individual level.

As a result, if you suspect that you have brain damage you should go to a doctor to talk about this rather than go on here.

My SH methods were rather just.. absurd, just the natural type of where you bang your head against the wall. I used to do this while growing up due to being convinced that feeling emotion or anger was a bad behavior from me and that I'm not allowed to do anything or feel unless necessary. Also due to wanting to feel relief and feeling disgusting for expressing anything.

I used to do it often front and back. I been suffering with memory loss, memory gaps .. and overall trying to figure out what memory is real and what is not. As well my vision being terrible (though I had use my glasses all my life so it does not matter) as well experiencing frequent headaches.

The reason for me not going to a doctor is personal but rather also due myself convincing it is not a big deal.

These years I'm unable to remember things at all, for example I don't remember what I did this week or what I did yesterday. Haha. Absolutely terrible but I cannot do much.

The reason why maybe I could be wrong of having brain damage is well.. depression usually can cause the same symptoms.. maybe headaches and overall how you act. Though I could be wrong.

Yeah, it sounds like you should probably see a doctor about that and ask to get recommended to a neurologist or something. Some of these symptoms could be attributed to brain damage, but as you've stated before, they could also be the result of depression or other issues.

I will see if I can check it out, thank you for your honesty. Good day or night to you.
