Have you been into electronics since you were little, Moon? It took me a while to really get into it (and I still don't think I know that much about it 😅)

564
Yes, since 3rd grade I think. I only know the stuff I needed for projects. Opamps are fun, transistors not so much. But I mostly worked with digital stuff until I had to build servo systems. Also designed basic circuit boards. But I guess the trace widths. I can not calculate it.

Which parts of electronics do you know about? I suppose microcontrollers since you mentioned embedded stuff?

I know a bit about microcontrollers, mostly the basics like GPIO, PWM, interrupts, timers, and serial communication. I also learned quite a bit about working with Arduinos and Raspberry Pis. It's just been a long time since college, so I'm definitely rusty

Yeah that's roughly what I worked with, too. But I didn't have Arduinos yet when I started. I tried to acquire the Atmega controllers but only found companies selling amounts which exceeded my high school student budget... 😅

Today's controllers are so advanced. An ARM MCU comes with a 3000 page manual and even has programmable opamps, jpeg encoder, camera interface all built in. It seems they have too much space on the silicon die available...

I use an app called fritzig to design my pcbs ☺️. There is a company in Germany that can then etch and print them.

Hi all ☺️

I am into raspberry pi controllers and have redesigned and built some analytical equipment for a uni. Got to play with stepper motors, cameras and lasers.

It isn't a safe, it is a variable power supply for a heater.

That's so cool! You got an ion pump there? Which pressure range are you at? Those cases are really stylish!!!

579
Wow you also got a getter pump, I see the label on the heater. Your pressure must be really low!
