It's wild how one election made me go from relatively hopeful for my future to looking for painless ways to go.

It's like, I'm far past the point of the typical emotional responses. The dehumanization and amount of harassment, in the name of "you're so mentally ill" is wild to me, because would you treat a depressed person like that? I hope not.

Now it's like, I'm really hoping more queer people are prepared for the worst. I would hate to see them suffer.

It's nice coming to terms with how, the world has always been like this, it was just scantily covered by "civilization." Now the barbarism is voting in ways that dehumanize, not taking matters into your own hands.

Maybe in the future, the world will be a better place. But I'm just glad I have the option not to suffer any longer.

Try to hang in there for another 4 years. The present nightmare won't last forever. Incidentally, trans people seem to have fared much better in what you call "barbaric" societies than in "civlilzed"ones. All the way from Siberia through the Americas, trans people were accepted, and often more than that. They were often regarded as significant people. In Europe and the Middle East there were transgender priests at the temple of Inanna in Sumer, and probably transgender priests amomg the Minoans, though little is known about either. Better known from antiquity are the transgender priests of the goddess Cybele. There are probably more examples, but I haven't researched the subject, and am just quoting what I can remember from my general reading. The problems that both gay and trans people have in the west come from christianity.

I feel so awful for trans people living in America right now. I actually feel bad for anyone in America right now that aren't old white millionaire men seeing as they're the only ones that matter under the Trump administration. It's scary times over there right now.

Trans people have been facing an uphill battle for years, and just when I thought they were finally making some headway, this asshat gets voted back in and everyone's future is looking grim. It breaks my heart to watch American society take 50 steps back, and that human beings are no longer being treated as human beings based on how they identify. It's disgusting and barbaric and I can't believe modern society is accepting this as okay.

I am so sorry that you are suffering during this terrifying time in American history. Please hang in there if you can. His term is only 4 years, and if we're lucky and someone's brave enough, it'll be much less. I completely empathize with your feelings of uncertainty and despair. We can only hope for a change in action as soon as possible, but in the interim, we support you, love you and accept you for whoever you identify as. He's quoted as telling his nephew that disabled people "should just die " It's terrifying how much has already happened in a few months. We have so much longer to go to get through this. First off, when it comes to female prisoners being SAed, trans women are not really the ones we should be focusing on. Most cases of SA in female prisons are perpetrated by male correctional employees. In reality, trans prisoners are actually at heightened risk of being SAed, especially in male prisons.

Secondly, no, he is definitely transphobic. He literally wants to reimpose the ban on trans people joining the military, he has appointed anti-LGBTQ+ judges in the past, and has talked about getting the Department of Health and Human Services to defend "chemical and surgical mutilation against children" (a common myth perpetuated by transphobes), signed an executive order that only recognizes two sexes in an attempt to reverse several protections in place for trans and gender-nonconforming people, and so on. He clearly doesn't like trans people.

Thirdly, no, not everyone used to love Trump. Plenty of people in past hated him actually. He actually has a history of doing some pretty fucked up shit. For example:

Supposedly he was an awful landlord. The newspaper that originally published the story has a website and they have archived it on there.

Also, there have been witnesses who have claimed otherwise in regard to Trump's claims of not drinking alcohol after the death of his brother. Now, of course, it could be argued that we don't know if these claims are necessarily true, but this same man also has his own brand of vodka that he introduced in 2005, which I feel kind of undermines his whole "I blame alcohol for the death of my brother" shit. If you feel like alcohol is to blame for the death of a loved one, then why would you make your own brand of vodka to sell? Doesn't that kind of feel a bit weird?

Thirdly, if current politics is impacting someone's life and making them suicidal then this is the place to vent about it. This site is inherently political, revolving around the stance that people deserve the right to die. I don't get how you can come on to this site, a place where the right to die is talked about regularly, and claim that this isn't a place for politics.

Fourthly, what exactly has he been fixing? He is literally tanking the US economy right now and wrecking your country's relationship with my country, cancelled billions worth of grants that were meant to go to help fight climate change, made cuts to the Department of Education, is responsible for mass deportation efforts which also are now impacting farmers since a lot of them rely on labour from illegal immigrants, has fired around 1000 national park service staff, ended DEI which has led to even more people losing their jobs, etc. It kind of feels like he is only really looking to help out his rich friends and that is it.

I also wanna point out, he said that millionaires paid journalists to say Trump is bad. To what end? What gain would be obtained from that? Rich people benefit the most from Trump, since it's the only demographic he cares about!

Honestly, it should be surprising but it's not. Just look at the number of people part of the Latin American community and the number of white women who voted for him. A lot of people voted for him because they refused to acknowledge that it went against their own interests. My mom has talked about how she thinks that these people probably did so partly due to being fueled by their anti-blackness or something. Not that surprising since there have been some who have openly made racist comments about black people only to now beg for their help after realizing that he was coming after them as well.

Still, I should note that black Americans are also guilty to some extent as well. While the vast majority voted for Harris, there were less votes for her this election compared to the amount of votes Biden got back in 2020. This is specifically noticeable when talking about black men, where there was a 35-point difference in the amount of votes for Harris vs for Biden. By comparison, black women actually stayed quite consistent in their voting habits (there was only a 2-point change in their case).

Yeah one of his plans for that is JD Vance runs, and wins, and then him and Trump swap places. His logic is that the constitution says a president can't be elected to run more than twice, and his logic is that JD Vance is the one being elected. I hate that everyone bends the knee to Trump too because what's sad is there's no huge hurdles for this plan to work. Even if Trump's not in a literal presidential position, he could very well pull the strings.

Reminds me of a video I saw. A woman, Venezuelan, I believe, spoke out in support of Trump. Later, there's a video of her crying because her family is being deported or something similar. I can't find a specific video but there are videos with upset Venezuelans who backed Trump, now upset with his ideas to terminate TPS.

Being trans isn't a mental illness, inflation started going down prior to Trump taking office and the increase before was due to the pandemic (which also caused inflation in many other countries, with the US having fared better than economists had anticipated and inflation having rapidly decreased between 2022 to 2024), I doubt that you are an economist yourself so I don't get your point here, what Trump is doing will negatively impact your economy and may lead to higher prices and slower growth and will actually fuck over the middle-class, and no, not everything that goes against your views are "mainstream leftist lies".

Also, there is no "mainstream leftist media" in your country. You guys don't even have an actual left-wing party. You have one party that's maybe closer to the centre of the political spectrum, if we are being generous, and another full-blown right-wing party.
