I have been contacted by many people asking me to give them the address of the shop in Tijuana that I have been to in the past. I am NOT gate keeping the source but some people just seem to be very ill informed, some even naive . They seem to think they can just walk into a vet. supply shop and ask to buy N, like they are buying a Diet Coke at a 7-11!! it's not that easy. You can not buy N in Mexico without a prescription. Period. I have built up a relationship with a family who owns a shop. The mother and father run the pet supply store at the front and the daughter is an ACTUAL Vet. and runs the clinic at the back of the store, she will write the prescription so the whole thing is done legally. They are good people and I do not want to cause them any trouble. This is why I almost always ask inquirers how old they are and whether they speak Spanish well enough to be able to go and buy the N on their own.

If they do not speak Spanish fairly fluently, the chances of problems increases exponentially. They MUST be able to communicate to the people in the shop why they need the N, telling a story about a sick horse or Saint Bernard at home that you love and that YOU want to be the one to administer the final shot that will put your dear and beloved pet to sleep forever. If you can't communicate that in Spanish that is a big problem. In that case I have been willing to fly from where I live in Mexico City to help with the translation and the purchase... IF the person who wants to buy the N is willing to pay for my expenses. I am willing to help, but I am not willing to pay to do you a HUGE favor out of my own pocket (I hope that makes sense to those of you out there who seem to find a reason to judge everyone else's intentions). It took a lot of my own personal time and effort to find the people who run the shop and to develop this working relationship that I have and like I already stated, they are good people and I do not want to cause them any harm. Oh, also, I was very dismayed to be called a scammer by people on this site. I DO NOT scam people, I only want to help and there are people on this site who can attest to my integrity, though they shouldn't need to do so.

Sincerely,
- Ernest1964

Is it really too difficult now in Mexico?

From what I've read here and there, I thought some of the agro-vet shops really didn't care much about prescriptions if you were willing to pay extra

Honestly I don't blame you. We constantly lose sources for the things we need. Having a screen process is a good way to keep them from potentially getting in trouble

Is this illegal for them to do? If so, you might want to warn them to stop before the vet loses her license or worse.

I am not using an "agro-pet shop" The one I use is deep in the middle of a city with 2 million people and is listed as one of the most dangerous cities on the planet. An "agro pet shop" would most likely be found in very small towns out in the rural areas. Tijuana is far from a rural area.

It is not illegal to do. The daughter is a real Vet. and she writes the prescriptions. So for them, they are legally selling the N to people to help them put their beloved pet to sleep. The problem comes when someone who is ill informed (I'm trying REAL hard not to call those people just plain stupid) and walks into a pet shop asking to buy N like their buying a Coke at a 7-11. I just don't know what people are thinking.
