Beachy Head?

OK I know there are like a million or so threads about this place but I live kind of near and am just wondering what anyone else currently living in SE England thinks of it?

I live near it too but there's no way I would have the guts to do it. I did consider it for a while.

I'm sticking with SN. I know many don't agree but I'm convinced SN is peaceful and painless if you do it properly.

It's a beautiful place. I travelled across the country to jump but when I got there my SI kicked in. I was mesmerised by it's beauty and I just stared. It's an amazing place to go if you can overcome your SI, but it was beyond me and required guts I simply do not possess

My favourite spot in Uk. Many a time i've walked from Birling Gap to Beachy Head. Beautiful place to die but I could never jump. I'll be using pentobarbital for self deliverence.

I got train tickets booked for early in the new year Its the only way for me now. Can't take the pain anymore. Gotta keep plans well hidden this time.

The 13x bus is incredibly hit and miss. Better to take the tour bus from Eastbourne promenade. You pay more but it runs on time
Assume you know people have survived the jump. You need to know where to jump otherwise you could land on a ledge and survive.

I intend to travel here to CTB as soon as I'm let out of the psychiatric ward, im worried that travelling will be difficult because of COVID, but I'm assuming it won't be too difficult, does anyone know what restrictions are in place for train travel, ie will I be stopped and questioned as to why I'm travelling?

I peered over the edge, and it just didn't look that high, but there's not much at the bottom besides rocks and waves to give you an idea of scale. You'd only be doing about 70mph hitting the bottom, and the two combined make my SI kick in, I don't want to be in pain at the bottom

what if one of those walkers wants to comfort you. Why do you feel so bad? I just personally wouldn't dare jump

I will wait until I'm alone wouldn't want anyone else to witness it. Why do I feel so bad. Many years of pain that won't shift, tried years of medication and mental health services. I did try as hard as I could this year to find a way I talked about how bad it was then got sectioned so lesson learnt there.

so there's no one or nothing that would comfort you out of it at all? Do you go through phases of feeling better, then feeling ready to end it? I know I do.
I don't think mental health services in this country are very good, but all NHS trusts are different. many on NHS have no idea, what was being sectioned actually like?

How often have you seen the patrols? This may be my only choice as my SN failed to arrive three times (stopped at customs)

I went 3 times so far. Most beautiful place. Walked the bottom to the lighthouse to check the cliff for no ledges. Spent a lot of time on the edge and over it, turns out I am not scared. Just felt incredibly peaceful. Found the best spot IMO. I m ready now as soon as we can travel again so it is not suspicious. Patrols barely once an hour just don't leave car after dark, then they check your plate and come and get you. Its only a short walk from Meads so no need to take a bus if you are reasonably fit (starts with a big hill).

Hey, I can give you all some insight having been to Beachy Head back at the beginning of March to jump off myself.

I would advise against going to Beachy head.

When you get to the edge, it's the scariest thing ever. You won't be able to do it, you look down the edge of the cliff and you'll realise you can't. If you do manage to, it will be painful - it's possible you'll hit the side of the cliff on the way down, and if not, you'll just be shit scared all the way down. You don't know fear until you stand on the edge of that cliff.

So what will happen when you're too scared to jump off, and you're sighted by a passer by, or the patrol, or anyone? Simple, you'll be taken by the police under section 136 of the mental health act. You'll be assessed by a bunch of haughty and arrogant psychiatrists. They'll section you. I was sectioned under section 2, meaning they can hold you for up to 28 days. You'll be taken to a psychiatric ward attached to your NHS district (e.g, if your GP is in Oxford, you will be transported to an Oxford psychiatric ward in a Serco type ambulance- however this may not be the case in the context of covid - they may have to put you in the least populous psychiatric ward available and minimise travelling distance, putting you in a closer ward, I dont know,).

They'll then contact your 'nearest relative' - to find out who this is, google it - in my case it was my mother. You have no control over this process - they will contact your next of kin, be that your mother, father, wife etc whether you want them to or not- you haven't got a choice. This may however help you, depending on what your nearest relative is like. My parents have an inherent distrust of institutions, and relatives are given lots of rights in this process - this means that if your parents want you out of the ward, it's much easier to get out. Section 2 means they can hold you for up to 28 days, whereas I was, I believe, taken in under section 136 on the Monday, and released by the Thursday - all because I said I was better, and my parents requested my release.

My point is, going to beachy head will not help you. Either you will end up in terrible pain, or you will fail, and end up in a psych ward, possibly for a long time. This could effect a number of things in your life.

Beachy head is not worth it. I'd advise you against it.

.... I wasn't scared at all, this depends on the person. I got picked up by the police only because I agreed to meet them after my 'friend ' had called them. I did not get sectioned because they couldn't prove I had intended to jump. Been back since a few times to make sure I know where to go and ever since September the place is deserted. Many days I was the only person there for hours sitting on the edge. Its the perfect place and so peaceful. Like I said, just don't leave car after dark, then they look for you. Its a myth that its heavily patrolled, there simply aren't the resources for that. Chaplains drive up the riad once an hour, police us only there when called. If you aren't afraid of heights but love them like me there isn't a more perfect spot.

Please be aware that pro lifers patrol this area incredibly often, I'd imagine even more right now due to Covid and the effect its having on people's mental health

I'm blessed that I only live 20 miles or so from this place of release but I often dream off jumping/falling off the top but it scares me. I'm not scared of dying but scared my brain will go into survival mode and flash images into my head that will stop me from doing it.

The 12/12A/12X are all very regular and reliable.
