Beachy Head and SI

So this is my first post and I wanted to say hi, and also just say I've been thinking for a long while that Beachy Head was my choice to ctb. At the weekend I went there to check it out near sunset. Seems like that's a busy time for photographers though and a couple of dog walkers. I found the spot by the red and white light house but was absolutely overwhelmed by the sense that if/ when it comes to it, SI will make it a failure. I wanted to get as close to the edge as I could but could barely make it.. the height is breathtaking. I've read before ideas like planning to count to three then jumping on 2 to counteract the SI but are there other ways? I still feel like that's my way to go.. the place has quite a hold over me.

I went there middle of the night , pretty much the same spot, I would say drinking before hand might help with SI if you decide you want to go through with it. Not a place to change your mind though if its broad daylight or you get spotted, very likely youll end up getting detained.

I went there and found the spot I'd choose. Again near the lighthouse. I had planned going back on a night with the spot gps tagged. Then just letting myself go off backwards into the darkness.
I got right to the edge and took a photo. Definitely a straight down around 500ft. So got to be 99.9% if not 100% certain to ctb.

I haven't been able to forget it for a long time now. It's definitely the spot i could find peace.

I've heard really foggy times of the day or night work. Just go over the little fence and keep walking forward into it. Other than that I don't know of a way to defeat a strong SI when it comes to heights.

I wonder if someday we'll be able to get some augmented reality VR goggles or something and have the view inside of them of a nice field to walk across, just start walking and trick your SI.

Good idea re. choosing a foggy time. I actually feel that would really help. I'm just thinking of going there more often to acclimatise myself to the height.. I'm into photography anyway so will take my camera then hopefully won't get bothered by anyone. Thanks guys xx

I'm guessing you live in the uk hence beachy head and it's getting late so I would suggest sleeping on it and see how you feel in the morning<3

Yeah I know. I guess BH was my first choice but I have another. But even that takes time and planning to do it right. Which I intend to do.

I've loved the idea of beachy head since I was 24 (now 30) I jumped on the motorcycle a few weeks back and rode nearly all the way there, stopped for a smoke and then came home... If I hadn't of stopped I would have got there and chosen my spot. I think the more times you go it almost normalises it so SI won't kick in so fast? I dunno this is what im hoping! I'm gunna ride all the way this weekend and have a good look around

I keep meaning to go back again. It is a beautiful spot. People always go on about the patrols. When I went I was walking alone and only carrying my mobile phone. So if that didn't make me look an obvious patrol target, what will? I was taking pics and sat looking over the edge at times. Even climbed a small fence to take a pic of the view down. Nobody ever approached me. I could have easily jumped. I think going back on a night would reduce the SI as long as you know the spot up jump from. I GPS tagged it. Still think it's the only 100% sure way to ctb.

This location is also a possibility for me, only thing is that I have to buy a plane ticket, fly all the way over to England...just to CTB lol, sounds so sad but eh, don't really care. Death is a certainty at this height. My initial idea was that i was going to run as fast as i could straight to the edge, jump, dive and then close my eyes. Obviously once you make the leap, that is it, no going back, you're dead, just wait to hit the ground.
