Last Sunday night a coworker was on speaker phone with a relative when their relative admitted that the both of them tried to kill my coworker's ex, who is now with another relative. When this happened, my coworker quickly informed their relative not to talk about it since they were on speaker. I've been wrestling what to do with this all week. If a life is in danger & I could stop it, then I should. I'm talking about saving a life from murder & not someone's natural right to suicide. There's 2 big problems though, first I don't know where, when or how or which agency to contact. Secondly, I've been a victim of gaslighting about criminal activity in the past, my coworker is devious & likes to play game & our work relation is tenuous. There's many factors that make me question that it's a trap.

Do you have a HR department? That might be the first place to go, and I guess could take the decision away from you in terms of police etc. Say you are concerned with something you heard.

It's fucked up, if you get left for someone else and you are that hurt about it, kys not other people – that's what I'm doing 🤷‍♂️

You think it's possible your co-worker setup a phone call beforehand with their relative to try to trap you?

I feel like that's even more of a reason to toss them under the bus, IMO.

I would go to HR immediately, tell them what you heard, and tell them to leave your name out of it.

Let them take care of it from there and they'll alert the authorities if necessary.

If he's stupid enough to say something like that as a "game" or a joke, then that's on him.
