Belgium doesn't do assisted suicide. We have euthanasia. And in case of a mental illness foreigners won't be approved. Euthanasia because of 'ondraaglijk psychisch lijden' (unbearable mental suffering) is reserved for Belgains only.
What is the difference between euthanasia and assisted suicide? Is it who administers the drugs?

Yes, assisted suicide is where the doctor writes a prescription for the lethal drugs and the person self-administers them themselves. That's how it is in the US states where it is posisble and some people (only imminently terminally ill people are eligible) never even take the drugs even if they got access and just die naturally.

Well-heee-heee- I would be happy with either one.

I didn't hear about it tbh but I'm interested. Can you tell me more about it?
Anyways, the guys at Pegasus were very rude to me and didn't answer my questions sufficiently. They were like: "I already told you that you need to be 50, ok?"
So I guess you need to be 50 yrs of age, otherwise you will need to have a family member to sign a letter of them consenting to your suicide AND also to accompany you to your VAD.

And as if that is not enough, you will also need to submit tons and tons of medical docs (which will have to be more the younger you are) to prove that your suffering is really unbearable (according to them) and that you are sane which will be harder to prove if you're applying for mental illness. Only to have their psychologists assess you to check if you are actually honest and that you're suffering enough and these psychologists will have the final saying on your approval.
Apologies for

That's about all I know. The woman's daughter died, she applied, got approved. I don't understand it myself. But the family found out when they were sent her ashes. Some prolifers were up in arms and complaining how easy it is to get VAD and all I could think was you have no clue. I messaged Pegasus in the past and they didn't say anything about age. They couldn't give me much info just that they couldn't see a reason I would be denied which, honestly, didn't convince me to proceed. It is such an expensive process and I just cannot afford to lose the funds if I am not guaranteed approval.

Assisted suicide is where someone helps to end someone's life. Which is illegal in most places. Euthansia is where you have a valid reason* to end your life and where a medical doctor will help you within a legal framework.

* In Belgium there are two criteria: unbearable physical suffering and/or unbearable mental suffering.
