I'd ike to know if anyone here has gone through the process of accessing assisted suicide due to mental suffering in Europe (primarily Switzerland and Belgium) as a foreigner, or if they know of someone close to them who has done so.
In my case, my condition was initially psychosomatic in origin, but over time it has become chronic to the point of being a largely physiological issue.
I am from South America and intend to go through the necessary procedures to access assisted suicide in Europe, I know the process can be long and somewhat tedious, but according to an email response I received from one of the organizations, it is possible to do so even coming from South America.
The obstacle is that they require something like a report approved by a psychiatrist stating that your mental condition does not prevent you from making decisions clearly.
In my country, it would be impossible to get a psychiatrist to agree to produce such a report, given its intended purpose. At the same time, I know that foreigners (including people from my own country) have undergone assisted suicide in Europe due to mental suffering.
I assume the remaining option is to request that report from a psychiatrist in Switzerland or Belgium (or maybe another European country) who is willing to provide it, but I don't know how to find one and know beforehand that they are open to that possibility. Scheduling a medical appointment with a psychiatrist on another continent is difficult enough as it is.
