I've been browising this site under the assumption that everyone was pretty certain and sure about commiting suicide and so they came here. Considering that you have to be very willing to even find this site, i thought my assumption was true.

I've read that people are considerate of others even in the midst of their suicide. I find it hard to see how anyone can be even considerate of others like that, if they're suicidal and are sure they will die relatively soon. If you did care for people in such a way, then why die?

I think that people do not realise the extent of their free will.

I'm very certain about my suicide, im just waiting for my payday.

How about you guys, why are you sure about ctb if you are sure; why are you unsure about ctb if you are unsure?

I like to believe I'm serious about it because I hate life. I hate the mundane everyday tasks (like peeing and shitting and working etc.) and I hate the fact that I need good friends to socialize with (because without socializing life is too goddamn boring and finding good friends is hard). I still don't want to devestate my mom because I know she completely loves me, even though she can be over protective. Lately, I was imagining jumping off but I figured that's too risky and too messy. I feel like I'm stuck here with no way out.

Sometimes people can care deeply and still reach a point where continuing on in life is impossible.

I had someone in my life who loved me, who cared for me, and even in her final moments, she repeated that care.

It doesn't have to be one way or another, people are complex.

Exactly this. People are complex. One can think something at a rational level and still act in a manner completely contrary to it.

most of us are here , having those thoughts and taking those decisions because the world was not compassionate enough with us. no one is born wanting to die but the circumstances proved that its the best option. the world is cruel enough to us so and we just want to escape the pain of it all.

Some people come here out of morbid curiosity, to dissuade people from committing suicide, or even to just troll.

I think most of us are very serious about suicide, the problem is simply the survival instincts which we cannot just turn off, and also being scared as fuck from the pain/physical suffering/ending up as a vegetable.
I honestly think it's this simple, i might be wrong tho.

I'm not sure, would you classify hesitancy as lacking that want to die?

why are you unsure about ctb
There are no methods who don't risk you having an even more grueling and painful life if you fail. All of the more reliable methods are being restricted by governments.

Besides, being suicidal is not a binary thing. Suicide wishes are often escape wishes, not so much as a "want to die" thing but a "want to stop suffering" thing. Most people that want to CTB already tried multiple ways to not suffer. Death is the last resort, after all hope is lost, and people still need to fight things like instinct, emotions, taboos and attachment to earthly things.

Suicide is one of the most nuanced aspects of human life. Life is sacred, yet society desecrates it every day. Dying is not a right, as life is. Most people see death in the context of manslaughter, which is as seeing sex in the context of rape. All of those thoughts are suppressed due to the fact it is taboo in almost every culture, and it makes suicide even more misunderstood.

Yes, ceasing to exist is all I wish and hope for, all I see as positive is never suffering ever again in this dreadful, torturous and cruel existence I just always saw as the most terrible mistake, to me existence is just so evil, all that existence does is just cause all this cruelty, harm and suffering with no limit as to how much one can be tortured with existing beings in agony every second and I find it so terrible how this existence was imposed at all.

To me the existence of life is the most terrible, devastating tragedy and for me only non-existence could ever be desirable, I find it an abomination to be conscious in this existence and every second is torture to be conscious, all I want is to erase this existence. I just want peace from the terrible mistake of existence and I find it horrific how the torture of existing can continue for decades longer just for one to face the agony of old age, I only continue to suffer in this existence as a result of humans making dying painlessly into a crime, it's just such horrific extreme cruelty how the suffering and torture of existing is seen as to force and prolong no matter what.

I think that existence is easier when ignorance is prevelant or consciousness is ignored. You sound a bit like someone who might be interested in transcendatal thought. I say this because before I realised that I was very suicidal, I was/am extremely religious and especially focused on transcendental aspects. To prevent my brain from actually realising my suffering, I focused on an spiritual existence after this physical existence. Though after reflection and thinking about the reasons behind my faith, I realised that it came from desperation.

That's classic denial. It's a way to shield us from pain, but it's not very effective. I understand why you did it, and you weren't entirely wrong on pursuing it, but denial is very fragile to reality, and the more we do it, the more we abandon reality and return to monke our internal fantasies.

I'm completely serious about it (and plan to do so fairly soon unless some massive changes happen in my life). I still care about people cause I am a human being with emotions and feelings and whatever, just the pain of living outweighs any other positives.

I feel, at 60, I've lived enough.. I have 2 great kids, I'm divorced and currently single. I don't have anything left to prove or accomplish. I'm in a dead end job with not enough to ever retire on due to divorce and poor spending habits in my youth. If I had a quick and painless way to ctb, I'd do it tonight. But, alas, I'm a big sissy and can't handle pain... I have the SN with me.... Ready to go. I just can't raise the courage to move ahead with the actual act.

What I'm really afraid of is the pain involved in the process of dying, rather than death itself.
If there were a widely available assisted-dying system, I think it might reduce a lot of uncertainty and allow people to listen to their inner voice more clearly.
