Currently, I am listening to scientifical articles on the topic queer. They say the fight for rights of queer people is similar to the protection of democracy which is an interesting take.

To the question of the title. I know two homosexual right-wing politicians in Germany that reject the notion of being queer.

I would be interested in the reasoning of such a decision.

I'm not a part of the LGBTQ etc community. (Sorry- not meaning disrespect but, can't keep track of all the additions...) Oh- here: LGBTQQIP2SAA.

I thought gay and queer were the same. Just quickly Googled though and 'queer' refers to people who recognise that identities and sexualities can change over time. That's interesting.

I've known an active heterosexual woman go exclusively gay. I've known a homosexual guy stay exclusively gay. I wonder what they would identify as. They always just said: 'gay'.

I've also known a trans woman confirm they were still attracted to women. So, I guess that's lesbian after transitioning.

Interesting though. I would have though bisexual and pansexual where more likely to be fluid in who they find attractive so- I imagine they would use 'queer' more.

It's definitely curious though. I don't really know people in real life with a fluid perspective on gender or sexuality. More like they decided and stayed put. Not criticizing it. I'm almost jealous. They could potentially love anyone I guess!

I wonder it's hard though to find partners that are understanding. People also fear being cheated on I've found. Imagine being afaid of a much bigger portion of the population. That can't be fun. Plus, what if they want to stay faithful but, their preferences change?

I'm gay, but I don't consider myself queer because 1) it's an ugly term imo, and 2) it doesn't seem to have a coherent definition in the same way homnosexual does. It's less a cuckservative political statement for me, and more just that I think the word is, in itself, ugly and lacks definition.

i don't consider myself queer because i don't consider myself to have a sexual identity in the first place.

Pan poly here. I have never described myself as "queer" because I genuinely do not know wtf that means. "Pan ploy" is a good enoght label for me. I am also not the type to be concerned with labels as they are just words and have no bearing on my self identity at all.

no, because the term is used differently now and some would even say that most of the people who use the term now are very far from being queer but I am unsure because I don't know if it has to do with biphobia

or the experience where gay or bi people think they are dating or connecting with another gay or bi person (who may not be either of those sexualities at all) and then they find out they are just contacting them to make them sleep with their partner or to use them for sex in general, the whole unicorn and unicorn hunters thing

also because I don't care for labels and I don't think people have to disclose their sexuality to everyone, just possible romantic or sexual partners

also some people find the people who currently use the term queer or identify with it very annoying

I could be wrong so any replies to this with additional information or clarification and context is welcome
