Probably not, most of the world was illiterate and those who did write it probably had their note broken, stuff was written on stone and/or clay usually back in the day

Depends on what you mean by ancient, on when and where. There must be plenty recorded in literature, though of course the original notes themselves will have perished, if we're talking about antiquity. Comes to mind the samurai custom of the death poem just before ritual suicide.

It probably took too much time to write anything by carving into rocks, so people may have just thought "Ah, well - I better just go ahead with it..."

Jokes aside, I would guess that requesting to be buried with one's most cherished possessions would be one kind of marking what was especially valuable to oneself back in ancient, ancient times. In more modern ancient times, people would probably write on scrolls, or they could just die early enough not to make it necessary to end one's life.
