One time I was a in a clinic. I was really suicidal and always talked about it how I would do it. During that time I cared for a mentally handicapped girl and tried to help her. One female nurse was kind of suprised and told me something like "at least you are not evil". I thought about that sentence a lot. Probably too much as usual. I am sure that woman was religious. I don't like how many christians deal with suicide. They often judge you (you will go to hell) or tell that you are crazy. Her first thought must have been he wants to ctb, he must be evil.

I really doubt all people who ctb are sinners. This narrative should just cause a guilty conscience. Many people who ctb are victims of crimes, abuse, violence or bullying (just like me). On the other hand I have to admit I know many very evil people who have ctb. Like all the nazis, probably Epstein or people who take other innocent people with them. If people don't abide by the law they can end up in prison or other horrible conditions and then they need to ctb. However not every person who does not abide by the law is evil. (Just see buying N)

Of course one could debate if there are genuine evil people in this world. At least for me I think there are. For example Hitler.

on the contrary, evil people don't care about past mistakes, shame, delusions, most of the reasons to someone kill themselves.

Hitler did evil shit and then he CTB'd because he didn't want to face the consequences or couldn't bear the thought of being captured by the Allies. Regular suicidal people like us cannot be evil because we are victims of abuse, bullying, and we inherited society's shortcomings. We didn't choose to be this way, we didn't choose to be abused. I was born in a world of abuse that I chose not to be born into, but by the hands of fate, here I am. Epstein, Hitler, made a choice to commit a crime and are self-aware of what they did.

It is evil if you decide to take others out with you like the Columbine shooters or the Las Vegas shooter. Buying N just for yourself may be illegal, but it's not evil because you're only going to use it on yourself. Pulling a gun out to use on yourself ONLY, is illegal, but not evil because you are using it on yourself. Suicide is not evil, because you're doing it to yourself, but others who are more religiously motivated see if it as evil because it offends their God.

i feel like this would be like saying are all people who die in car crashes evil? of course not. same applies to ctb since we all want to ctb for unique reasons, some because of depression/mental illness, or trauma, or poverty, etc etc, there are endless reasons. and yes even the concept of being "evil" is subjective - what you consider bad, i might think is totally fine. i'm sick of christians forcing their ideology onto other people !! leave us alone !! we're going through enough shit lmao

Many people who commit awful acts against others, if that is what 'evil' is, are more likely to commit suicide I guess, as they have to live with the consequences, have a long life ahead of them in prison, and many are likely to suffer from some sort of mental illness.
The majority of people who ctb just want to be free from pain and they see no other option. ctb is not an act worthy of any sort of punishment despite some religious beliefs. Many people have been disadvantaged from the start due to no fault of their own.

For every 'evil' person that killed themselves there is another 'good' person that did so as well.
Hitler ate bread, that doesn't mean everyone who eats bread is evil now too.

This sentiment that suicide is evil and deplorable is not inherent to human nature, it is very much a cultural phenomenon, as evidenced by the fact that the Romans had rather liberal ideas on this topic. The reason that suicide has such a negative connotation in modern western society is Christianity, and I am so unbelievably glad that this religious brainwashing they tried on me in my childhood didn't influence me at all. sUicidAlS aRe EviL evades rational thinking, as dogma so often does.

I think it's just a tremendous amount of pain and emotional depression coupled with likely some physical abuse and trauma. The thoughts driving you to CTB are clearly "not right" since we all have built in self preservation triggers but the thoughts are not evil and the people contemplating the act are not evil for the contemplation of the act itself. In most cases ist probably just when your pain exceeds the threshold of coping.

No. Two of the most sweetest people I was fortunate to have in my life CTB.
I don't think they even knew the meaning of the word evil

I don't see any logic or correlation here. Lacking moral qualities can shield you from some suicidality factors (guilt and shame) but magnify others (being cut off from pleasure). Most of the things that make people suicidal don't discriminate based on moral record.

I dont agree. I was raised in muslim family and I still practice my faith and know quite alot about the themes of sin and punishment. Even though the act of suicide is forbidden (exception is self sacrifice in name of god). It is said that people who suicide get into a loop of repeating their final act over and over in hell. While I may agree loosely that suicide maybe sinful, I can not find any canonical justification why it could condemn the doer with an eternal damnation in hell. Mind you I even find the forbidding of such act does not apply in all cases especially if the doer kind of lose their mind momentarily in order to cheat their survival instinct.

p.s. please dont turn this into a debate or an argument with me because I said I may agree that suicide itself is a sinful act. I am not decided on this issue %100 but I do feel there is a good point of conserving human life at all costs
