They are... but it's really, really not an actual method. It's a long drawn out death, usually involving chemical burns and severe pain and discomfort, and it's NOT guaranteed to cause death, but it WILL cause injury.

I would absolutely not attempt to CTB using household cleaning products under any circumstances.

Not reliably, no. I'd discourage of these methods because they can do a lot of harm without doing what you'd want.
