Hi,

I just need someone to clarify when the handbook mentions that the Nembutal needs to be clear and colourless.

How can I test whether it is clear? As it comes in brown bottles which makes it tricky to know exactly at least for me.

If can see my fingers the other side of the bottle does that mean the N meets the clear and colourless criteria?

I'd recommend editing the title to read Nembutal Appearance so that the people you want to respond will notice. I thought this thread was going to be about personal appearance. :)

Putting lights behind the bottle, you have a good chance to tell realistically if particles have formed or not.

I don't think the colouration would be dark enough for you to testify through the brown glass.
Better take a sample out, with an insulin needle or any above 25G (the higher number, the thinner, the better to avoid tearing of the rubber - it goes up to 34G). If you have 2 bottles that are not too old, you're likely fine to discard some liquid, after the observation is done, or wiser, send it to lab for quantitative testing (or proceed to a sleep/taste test at your own risk - keep it below 2ml !)

The nurse guidelines recommend to introduce air, equaling the amount of liquid you plan to extract, in order to equilibrate the pressure inside the bottle. I would advise against this good practice if the amount is relatively low, since fresh air could contribute to new degradation over time. Just empty the syringe from air before inserting, it will lead to some resistance when you pull the lever out, that you'll need to compensate from continuous pulling while taking the syringe out.
Preferably do not reinsert the liquid to avoid further contamination.

Could a member of staff edit my title? As semed to have gone past the time can edit the title myself.

GoodPersonEffed - thanks for pointing that out to me.

Enjolras - thank you for the information you have provided. I'll have a look at the bottles tonight.

Extra note for all - my N is fairly old.

I've reported it like you suggested.

Around 2 years old.

Only way to really tell is to buy it and put it into another bottle.

Ok, then I can bring you some THEORICAL comfort.

My personal record to beat is 5yo. I still see no particles
At the 3 years mark past the expiry date, I got test results from the EC lab at 64mg/ml, which indicate virtually zero purity degradation.

However, I'm one lucky chap who got it in original packaging, labeling and leaflet (removed / discarded for storage), so I'm certain that the expiry date was not invented, after unknown storage time pre-shipment. Back then, the was only 6 months left after arrival...

Still, that's encouraging for you and others who postpone.

Personally, I still shit in my pants because it is very counter-intuitive. I don't like the idea to bet with my death, even at a low probability. Still, I must admit everything indicates, that it potentially lasts many years

Other members make their possible to put my mind at ease. It seems that Nitschke confirmed on the EI forum his awareness of 2 exits with 20yo liquid N

Yesterday, I read this on the "Guide to self-chosen humane death" (2006)

D3EAA658 45B8 46CE BAF9 C385DEFC0213

Again, this goes in the same direction globally, with a warning notice to eventually, increase quantity and/or time undiscovered accordingly.

Only way to really tell is to buy it and put it into another bottle.

Generally, it is unadvised to change the container, especially if it arrives sealed.

Can't tell if this argument should be taken upfront, but that may give a rough idea that a decanted liquid may not be suited for long-term storage
