Discussion Anyone’s thoughts on assisted suicide in the USA?

I saw a post resurface about the 28 year old that took her life in the Netherlands with euthanasia over her depression. I feel endlessly jealous.
Do you think it's possible to get the procedure in the USA? If not, will it be accessible done day? Do you all think it's good to keep around the tech, or will it cause more harm?

I highly doubt the USA will allow euthanasia for depression, as it's supposedly "curable" with meds and therapy.

The American government doesn't want you to kill yourself, because if you do, that's less tax money in their pockets. They don't care about your mental health, they just tell you to deal with it.

This part right here. You're exactly right. "Want to go out on your own terms and time? Nope, get insitutionalized until you can believably lie about not being suicidal while we throw meds at you that you can't even afford without giving a shit about the underlying problem then go and get a job and contribute to society!"

We're allowed to own guns unlike other countries. So the U.S. govt would argue we already have the means to ctb so govt need not get involved.

I wish we had that, but I doubt it'll ever happen. Doctors will go out of their way to make you live even when you're in severe pain. Your quality of life doesn't matter to them.
