• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I suffer from audiogenic epilepsy - epilepsy that is triggered mainly by sound. You can, hypothetically, scream at me just right to throw me into grand mal seizures.

How do you deal with this in your everyday life? Do you use earplugs/headphones when you go outside?

It's not as easy. Silence makes me super anxious, and I might be also dealing with tinnitus. There's some "ringing", for lack of a better word, in my ears when it's too quiet.
The seizures also come at random because fuck me, that's why. Sound triggers grand mals, randoms are complex partials for the most part.
Of course, it's not always the same sound. Last time I fucked about with a sound generator in a hospital I managed to trigger myself with 73hz (I think) sine wave. It changes, though. It can be high, it can be low.
Country music seems to have no adverse effects, so as soon as I get home, first thing I do is turn spotify on and out on some country playlist. The really bad ones manage to get through that too.
After about 15 years of struggle I'm finally pretty close to getting a temporal lobecotomy - cutting the offending chunk of brain out if my head. No idea if it'll work, but there are a lot of good stories out there. Lots of bad ones too.
The temporal lobecotomy is the only thing that keeps me still alive. If that fails, the only thing left to do (that is, assuming I remain functional) is to outlive my father. Hopefully, by then I'll have enough money for Pegasos.

I've diagnosed myself with misophonia. I've had it my whole life. My late mom had it as well. Probably just another defect on my gene pool. Wasn't interested enough to determine if this is genetically linked. I've got bigger fish to fry.
